Your favourite European people and why.

Strange one for me, as the finnish students at my uni were aloof and not well liked by many of the nationalities there. Not socialvle at all. ..but admit its a small sample size
Oh no, that sounds a Finnish trait. I just like it. Keep themselves to themselves. No small talk. That doesn't mean they are unfriendly though

Pretty much all European people. I’ve worked in Norway and love the people and country but know a few Dutch and really like them too. I’m really good friends with a bloke from Portugal who is absolutely brilliant and have German in-laws, who are also good people.

Working offshore with a grumpy old Norwegian so at this moment in time they're my least favourite!!!:ROFLMAO:

Could be worse, he could be Swedish😉
2 Danes, 2 Finns, 2 Norwegians and 2 Swedes shipwrecked on an island..after some time It was decided to build a boat to escape.
The Finns said they would design it
The Danes said they would build it
The Norwegians said they would sail it.
Meanwhile, the two Swedes were still waiting to be formally introduced.

The most kind and generous folks I've met abroad were Greek, actually, Yanni's wife was Swedish. We went to zante for a wedding and 8 of us booked 4 little 1 bed apartments which were very nice. When the owner Yanni learned we were there as a group he insisted we stayed in his family home so we could all be together, he and his family moved into a smaller house. He got us to cancel the original payment and we paid him directly for a fair bit less. This is the house we ended up staying in, pool, tennis court, it was superb...

One evening we stayed by the pool instead of going out on the town, we ended up being invited to join the family for their evening meal and drinking a lot of ouzo. Never met such friendly and welcoming people. Still keep in touch on FB

People are nice, aren’t they? I do love it when you spend enough time around people to realise that their national stereotypes really are true, it’s very funny and very endearing.

Germans I find so funny. Exactly the same sense of humour and I love the curiosity and enthusiasm for things, and it is brilliant how precise they are 😁 So similar in general to Brits.

Polish people I think are just Brits with unlucky historical neighbours too. Man they can drink, it’s not even funny.

I love the warmth of the Spanish, so social and live a bit in slow motion. Not fussed about making money or having the newest iPhone or all of that, it’s lovely to be around.

My favourite might be people from the Balkans, just so funny with a rich sense of chaos. I’d move in with Germans but I’d party with people from the Balkans.

Not sure I could date an Italian girl, too much crazy 😂 Wonderful theatre of life there though.

All generalisations of course and only from people I’ve been lucky enough to spend time around.

I’ve had two kind gestures from French people in the last 24hrs. The people who stay next to us and sorted out me buying the boat, yesterday evening before they k ft they brought the wife and I a bottle of Rose over. It came out of the blue.

Today, the director of the camp site came to see us and asked if everything thing was ok and gave us a bottle of red wine. Somehow, I just couldn’t see any major British camp site doing this. I would love to be proven wrong.

Almost as if most Europeans are very similar to us isn't it? As if we have some sort of shared cultural heritage or something. Baffling 😉

Agree with the French. As a keen tennis player I've come across several French lads over the years and they were all extremely good sports, while being competitive as hell. Also enjoyed a bit of banter, happy to be referred to as frogs as long as they could call me roast beef.

But wouldn't say there was a European nationality I've come across I didn't like.

Probably come across more Americans I didn't "get" than Europeans (didn't dislike them, just felt like I was on a very different wavelength). Language barrier aside I feel my personality is more aligned with our European cousins than our American ones.

No sorry, can be doing with the Dutch! It’s not natural to have a race of people where you can be six foot tall and still have “small man syndrome”!!

Sounds like you should have been buying them one, you tight get! 😀

To be fair I should also give the French a tick. The campsite we were staying at closed at 9pm. We arrived after midnight. I told wife and kids it's a night in the car. A lady put a torch light in the window and asked if we were xxxxx. They opened the gate and in our tent was a warm pizza, mussels, chips and a bottle of vino.

The Germans. Love going to the football there, love the beer. Some great cities/towns visited and they do have a sense of humour! As for the French....
