We arrived late and missed kick off having got lost en route and had to park a mile or two from Old Trafford but as soon as we got out of the car all you could hear was ‘ Come on Boro’ getting louder as we approached the stadium. It seemed to continue for the rest of the game until Willie Morgan converted a penalty late on and then the United fans finally burst into life.Although a disappointing result on the night it was the first time I ‘d been to a huge stadium and the atmosphere enhanced by it being under floodlights and our performance on the night is one of my top memories of following the Boro over the years.Fa Cup 6th round replay at Old Trafford 1970 Lost 2-1 to a dodgy Willie Morgan penalty. The Boro following out-sung the United fans that night. I didn't go to

Yes remember it well.Mine was the 18th January 1972 at home to Man City in a 3rd replay
Giants Man City had got out of jail with a late penalty when with 11 minutes remaining Franny Lee dived, dusted himself down & put the resulting spot kick beyond the diving Jim Platt, who was playing his 1st FAC match
The replay, 3 days later at a packed AP, with 3 of my family in the boysend & bobend seen big John score the only goal of the game
Man City in their iconic away strip, snow all around the AP piled up against the advertising board
There was a ruling that season if there was a colour clash both teams had to changeMust admit, I had no clue what mine was so had to Google the 1974/75 fixtures to see. The first home game was an ignominious 1-0 win in a 3rd round replay against non-league Wycombe (with a late Armstrong winner) but as that was night match I wouldn't have been there (wasn't allowed to night matches as a 6 year old!) so that makes the 4th round 3-1 victory against Sunderland my first FA Cup game (happy with that!). Two John Hickton penalties and a Bobby Murdoch goal in front of a crowd of 39,400 saw us through to round 5 (where we made hard work of Peterborough before losing the infamous QF against Birmingham City).
For some reason both sides wore alternative kits that day?
2 nil up to 2-2 & holding out in the end, we sort of earned a replayBishops Stortford in 83, drew 2 2
Still Carlisle's record attendanceEarly 1963 , it was a replay v Blackburn and we won . Think it could have been 3-1 but not sure.
My first away FA Cup game was 1970 v Carlisle we won 2 -1 and the ground was packed. So much so that the fencing I was stood behind (wood and wire) went down under the pressure from the fans. The ground was packed with Boro fans. I don't remember much about the game other than me and my younger brother being terrified we were going to get crushed. My Mum wanted us to go at half time but my Dad talked her into staying.

1970 vs West Ham at AP. Went with my dad and his mate. I was 9yo.
We won 2-1 as Second Division Boro beat a ‘big’ team in WHU who had Moore, Peters, Lampard and Clyde Best in their team.
27,599Didn't know that ,what was it Erimus ?

I know unreal isn't it & but for lady luck to desert us, we should have beaten Man Utd in the QF at AP, but it wasn't to beNo wonder wonder we were crammed in with a gate like that at Brunton Park.
I remember him scoring with a thumping header which then got disallowed I think. One of the games that sticks in my mind from my childhood. It was a great win. I think I remember Clyde Best had a couple of offside goals much to my delight (might even be 3 ).
I too was at that match. We got a football special train (remember them?). I remember being stood behind a goal on the top of an eath bank as there was no terracing. Boro scored both goals at the opposite end.Early 1963 , it was a replay v Blackburn and we won . Think it could have been 3-1 but not sure.

I'm sure in their 1st division 1974 programme v Boro that same wording is wrote insideI too was at that match. We got a football special train (remember them?). I remember being stood behind a goal on the top of an eath bank as there was no terracing. Boro scored both goals at the opposite end.
On the way to the ground there was a newspaper seller and the headline was "All roads lead to Brunton Park"
