Your 1st FAC match

!st one for me was the Everton replay at goodison went down with Willie Whigham I used to knock about with his son at the time he drove us down don't remember much I had far too much to drink all for free. All I remember was being in a pub just across from the ground it wasn't that full when we went in we all had Boro shirts on apart from Willie & one of the lads with us dropped the jackpot on the fruit machine all of a sudden the pub was full & everyone was looking at us & they all had blue shirts on:eek:
We didn't hang about to collect the jackpot from the fruit machine Willie grabbed him & got us all out pretty damn quick then legged it when we got outside eventually we found where the Boro fans were drinking people just kept buying Willie drinks but because he was driving he just kept giving them to us apparently the table was still full of full drinks when we set off for the ground.

oh & I do remember it was a draw so it was back to Ayresome

Good story 👍

Same as 1st away game 17 Feb 1962, beaten 2-1 at Blackburn but great fun aboard the football special train from Boro non stop to Blackburn

Jan 5th 1971 - 3rd round replay at Ayresome v Man U.
Boro won 2-1 that night with snow on the pitch.
41,000 there it seemed the whole world was there and we missed McIlmoyle score the early opener.
Best got a very late consolation for Man U.

I must be younger than most on here - mine was a 4th round replay against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park in February 1996. It was my second ever Boro game. We lost 1-0, of course.

My 2nd was the following round, 4th round replay v Millwall night match, big John having a penalty saved, then retaken & scores for a 2-1 Boro win

Mine was the 18th January 1972 at home to Man City in a 3rd replay

Giants Man City had got out of jail with a late penalty when with 11 minutes remaining Franny Lee dived, dusted himself down & put the resulting spot kick beyond the diving Jim Platt, who was playing his 1st FAC match

The replay, 3 days later at a packed AP, with 3 of my family in the boysend & bobend seen big John score the only goal of the game

Man City in their iconic away strip, snow all around the AP piled up against the advertising board

Mine was 1970 6th round tie against Man U. 1-1. Had to camp out in the snow the previous week

1970 Man Utd at Ayresome. 1-1. Great game from what I can remember. Camped out overnight in the snow the previous week to get tickets aged 11 with my parents,

Mine was Boro v Man Utd at Ayresome Park in 1970 . It was a 1-1 draw. It was also my first Boro match. A school friend had a couple of tickets so I went along with her

27th January 1967 v Hull City. 1-1 draw. We drew the replay then won the 2nd replay 1-0. Bristol City knocked us out in next round also after a replay.

Meant to say January 1968!!
That was mine as well. Boro played Hull four times in less than a fortnight as there was a league game as well. I also went to the Bristol City home game.

That rail ticket is fantastic. What a route down some lines long since gone. Northallerton to Harrogate, Arthington to Skipton, and Skipton to Colne. Brilliant.

29th February 1972 v Man Utd 5th round replay lost 0-3 (Morgan Charlton, Best) I’m sure it was an afternoon kick off on a Tuesday or Wednesday due to power cuts.

Certainly was, my dad gave me a letter to allow me to leave to go to the match, stood in the boysend 👍

Chicken Run for that game don’t know how I ended up in there. I think my mam bought the ticket on the Monday while I was at school. Bob end regular after that until it closed down
