I really cant fathom the reason for this at this point in the season especially when we are so short of bodies and experience. He also looks more of a threat than Azaz and will score goals between now and the end of the season. He wont be on massive wages and doubt the fee would be that high.

Crap timing but you can kind of understand it from the club's perspective, he's 30 and not a guaranteed starter.

Can't say it makes sense to let Crooks leave now unless there's a replacement, but considering the window is shut and there isn't a viable replacement that's on a free that's the same or better than Crooks, I doubt he would leave now

There are some decent players around who are free agents. If we can get more than we paid for Crooks at 30 year old and bring in someone like Anwar El Ghazi for free then I would take that. It would also likely give Crooks a nice payday and a few years in the sun before he retires.

All this talk of money is doing my head in. Everybody is amateur accountant and football finance expert now.

The club may well record a profit of some kind on Crooks but we’re supposed to be trying to get promoted. We’re weakening ourselves by allowing this transfer to happen now imo. To me it feels disappointing. They went into January in need of a striker and have come out without said striker and lost Rogers and now Crooks.

I think it’s poor tbh. We are left with two unfit orthodox strikers on the books.
