Would you buy the new Boro shirt if it had no sponsor name and logo?

I'd be more likely to buy it than the current rendition. I'm not particularly bothered by the fact it's a gambling company (although do understand why it's an issue).

I just think it looks god awful. It's to big and way to much writing. The classic white band is being used as an billboard. I'm almost tempted to say get rid of it next year.

I'm moaning about it for moanings sake. I've not bought one in 3 years. I just rotate my old ones. Although I've lost a few pounds so many look massive. Those 00s kits were not designed to fit well.

Rob is asking would you ACTUALLY BUY it without a sponsor.

Most people are talking about how they would PREFER it to have no sponsor, or wouldn't buy it whilst it's an adult themed sponsor - but not actually stating that they WOULD BUY it if they removed the sponsor.

I think that's what Rob is getting at
That the nature of message board threads I’m afraid, folks chime in with different opinions and different angles. Given the option of buying a shirt with no sponsor a lot of fans would take up that option.

There is a poll at the top to answer that question - YES or NO.

Then you have others, like myself, who are stating in the comments that they might consider buying one.

Maybe a 3rd poll option, "would consider buying" could be added - that might reduce the comments.

I haven't bought a shirt for myself for years but for me its a no to buying one without sponsors. My kids want to wear the same shirt that they see the players playing in, they take no notice of what the actual sponsor is.

I’ve found younger kids want whatever the players are wearing.. but older kids are a bit more switched on. I remember being a kid and school mates wanting to have replica spurs shirts with holsten on because of gazza

That is true of course. But do those objecting actually buy the shirts every season?
Hi Rob.
The conversation about not just the shirts - but the ethics of advertising gambling and loan companies - highlights how much fans care about how the club presents itself. It also highlights the fact that some supporters refuse to be adversing boards for unethical companies.

Hopefully, each of us has clicked either yes or no - but this shouldnt be a barrier to adding our thoughts as fans.

For me, the 32Red was the last straw.
I stopped buying the official shirt - because the quality is poor and has the shape of a dishcloth. Its expensive and not worth half.
Im sure many of us have spent thousands in the club shop over the years, but the club has never [as far as Im aware] ever asked the fans what suggestions we might have.

Advertising is encouraging us to gamble - to risk our own money - to provide the club with income.
Its just money and being a mercenary for gambling outfits.

Whom the sponsor is is obviously going to have a bearing on some people's decision to purchase the shirt. If it was Cazoo (for example) or any other company not from a disagreeable industry I would purchase the shirt.

1. There are a large section of fans that do not like sponsors on shirts. Some of these fans do not buy shirts because of this.

2. Lots of fans will not buy shirts if the sponsor spoils the shirt as with the ramsdens green wine gum and possibly this season with unibet’s cramped effort.

3. Just as fans can be swayed by the design of the shirt so can they by the acceptability of a shirt sponsor.

Folks all over twitter have discussed removing the sponsor from new shirts and I’ve seen folks on social media ruining their (Boro) shirts in their attempts to take off the sponsor logo.

This season me and the lads are probably going to sack off getting a shirt mostly because of the sponsor makes it look totally shyte.

I have never bought a shirt and am unlikely ever to do so; just not part of being a fan for me.

That said, if I had to choose between sponsor or sponsorless, I'd go sponsorless.
