Would absolutely love us to sign a destroyer in midfield

Hardly meltdown mode. Just expressing I think we need a new midfielder to stop what we’re currently seeing.
It doesn’t fit our very successful game plan though, maybe to see a result out but it isn’t a necessity and not one we’d look to explore I don’t think.

I wasn’t referring to you as having a meltdown just the fan base as a whole.

Tommy Smith is a gnarly b*stard. Does anyone really bully Lenihan or Howson? Or Hackney? I do usually like a b*stard in the middle of the field but they have to be able to play as well. Times move on. And to me the real strength is being to play your football in times of adversity, which Boro did better than anyone last season in terms of recovering points from losing positions. Weak and/or mentality or physically fragile teams don’t do that.

You’re not understanding what I meant by destroyer. I mean someone who can tackle and get the ball back quickly and play the short passes still and set the tempo. The players we have can do that now but not athletic really and not great tacklers. There would be no need to chance tactics.

I want the player we sign to blend in to the team but also have athleticism and tackle not much to ask. Obviously he needs to be able to play and slot in the system.

It’s all about looking for areas to improve, and for me this is one. I don’t think Barlaser is good enough and Howsons obviously playing his last season for us. Hackney is excellent and needs a partner in my opinion

I know what you meant but to get one to do what you want we couldn’t afford them. Look at caicedo he’s going for £115m.

We managed to find a way to make Coventry look adequate today which was some achievement. They weren't that good, 2 deflections and an own goal. Wow. During the second half our skill-free forward line missed 3 takeable chances, the first from Silvera which would have levelled it was a criminal yoike over the bar from 6 feet with the goal at his mercy.

The rot set in when we sold catttermole and boateng and replaced them with digard. Apart from Clayton whose legs went at the end of the Brighton game we haven’t had one for 15 years (apart from an over the hill Obi Mikel)

It’s what Besic was supposed to be too.

Flynn Downes would have been perfect for us. Aggressive, athletic and can play. Think he is going to Southampton on loan

Hard in the tackle, athletic, energetic, good on the ball.

Need someone in there. Look weak as **** at the moment in midfield.

I hope the Akpom money allows us to sign a central midfielder. We need someone to come in and start too, not a back up player.
Totally agree.....
We are midfield wise a velvet baton
Way too soft...
We need a Keane styled boss who takes no **** from anyone .....someone to win it....leave an ER room behind him and give it to Hackney
