Woodgate not sacked - rumours

Always need to think one step ahead......he goes, then who takes over in the final quarter of the season and miraculously turns around an unbalanced bag of older players, keen kids and poor quality low league players into a unit which will survive?

As much as I would like this rumour to be true, I just can’t see it. I don’t think Gibson will act, even if we do go down.

And, even if it does turn out to be true, I have no faith that we would make a good appointment to replace him.

I am not in a position etc .... I think have seen around 40 mins of Boro live this season ..

But a replacement doesn't need to be good, only good enough, and only for 3 months. Woodgate isn't that person.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind a season in Div. 1? I mean I'm not hoping that we go down, but at the same time I'll not be upset and would look forward to playing a load of teams we've not faced for a while at least. And probably a local derby thrown in.

I’d say it’s more likely Sunderland will be playing championship football next season. They are on a roll.
Hate the mindset of people who wouldn’t mind get relegated. Don’t get it all

i was turning against him in october but he turned it around in december (possibly with luck) i then started backing him again, may be i should be calling for him to go again, it seems like my views are inversally connected... possibly :-(

That's what the mackems were saying just before they were relegated. Ask them if they are enjoying it now.

I also heard this rumour tonight, but from a source I'd call "hardly ITK". A rumour that requires a pinch of salt large enough to de-ice Linthorpe road.

I really can’t see it happening myself.
That said since yesterday’s debacle every time my phone gives me a sky sports update I am expecting it to say that Boro have sacked Woodgate.

The rumours were bound to start sooner or later given the run of results and the fans backlash. If you were able to track back through every manager after a catastrophic set of results you'd find someone crying wolf every time.

What I can’t understand is we played kids at West Brom and Preston, then drops them all and we have plummeted massively since . We did not need to change it did we ? The whole squad needs to sit down talk address the issues and find some fire in their bellies and quick

The kids were actually giving us something to shout about earlier in the season.

I'd prefer to see the likes of Coulson and Spence start all day long, rather than 'experienced' players like Johnson and Britt, who haven't really done it for us all season.

I still can’t believe we gave Agnew the job in the prem ( another novice no mark) but he did.

The supposedly greatest league in the world that every manager in the world wants to manage in and we gave the job to the man who used put the cones out for Steve Bruce ( a job he has since gone back too as no one else is daft enough to appoint him as manager).

So if woody was to go then all bets are off.

This time, there is no-one on the staff who'll be installed should Woodgate be relieved of his duties.
Given the guff about Woodgate being the best candidate last time around, I'm dreading hearing how the next managerial decision will be spun.
