Womens World Cup 2023 in Oz and NZ

What a low key build up to a world cup. Admittedly I have not been seeking out news on this tournament, but I only first noticed TV adverts for the games about 3 or 4 days ago - anyone not following the sport might have missed out the fact that this is even happening. Whereas the men's WC is hyped up by the media for months beforehand.

With England winning the Euros, I would have thought that the hype for this would have been in overdrive.
To be fair there have been ads running on BBC for a few weeks now. Also theres been so much sport with Wimbledon on the BBC that it only started to ramp up in the last week

Also you've got to remember that the BBC / ITV only officially got the rights for this tournament on the 14th of the June. I know they would've been planning for it in advance but with the stand off with FIFA they could only do so much until things were fully confirmed.

Wins for both the hosts. I watched the NZ game from the penalty onwards so I've already seen more of this tournament than the last men's version.

England playing now.

I’m not a fan of this VAR announcement to the crowd by the referee.

Also, how did they not give the penalty because of the apparent foul before the tackle, but then the Haiti player got booked for said tackle?

It was a dangerous challenge. Even if it'd gone in and the free kick given in real time, there'd probably have been a booking. England are still struggling in front of goal against the weakest team in the group. We should win this one but that's a worry when we come up against the better teams in the group.
