Wolves looking at Spence - £5 million?

I have seen him play quite often, but would find it very interesting to see what your reasons are for stating he has a questionable attitude.
I'd echo this, it's obvious he doesn't always follow instructions and occasionally switches off, but that doesn't necessarily mean this is an 'attitude problem'. Plenty of young players struggle with tactical instruction, positioning, defensive play etc.

His languid style of play doesnt help him, he looks like he has a lazy body shape, if that makes sense, bit he's quick and his work-rate isnt an issue.

As a raw talent his appeal to bigger clubs is obvious - he has strengths that you can't coach into players.

Isn't it to do with it being reportedly part of the reason Fulham let him go and the fact Woodgate and Warnock have both commented on it?

Not sure if they specifically questioned his "attitude" but definitely comments implying his application isn't always what it should be (which for me is part of his attitude, but others may disagree).

That’s the story emerging. If this is the case - sell, sell, sell. Be a very pleasant surprise if we got this!
He is a brilliant player who is having a rough patch.

Form is temporary and class is permanent.

I remember the stick Lee Cattermole got when he was a young pup. He went to Wigan for peanuts and he was sold on a year later for 9m.

Who are we going to replace him with for 5m? Nobody.

the lad has a lot of potential similar to Traore at the same age.

Eh?

Traore only played half a season for us and wound up getting the most MotM awards in the division. Him and Bamford playing dragged us from lower mid table to playoffs. Two years in a row with us he was getting the highest number of successful dribbles in Europe per game, outdoing Messi, and that was including the year in the prem.

Spence is nowhere near Traores level with us imo.

Brilliant!?

He's okay. I think a few on this thread are going overboard either way. He looks a bit too laidback when he plays imo - if he's running on to a ball he often slows down a lot as he gets nearer. Seen him slow a few counters right down doing that, lets the opposing fullback chase back.

Not dreadful, not particularly special. Perfectly happy for him to stay and hopefully develop but wouldn't have him at RB ahead of Dijksteel or Fischer, and wouldn't have him at RW ahead of Kebano, Bolasie, Watmore or Browne so if he goes I don't see the problem.

I'm not sure Traore has declined really. I think Wolves have dropped off since Jota was sold and not replaced and their star striker fractured his skull. I think Neto and Jonny have had bad injuries as well. And Doherty left. I think that represents a huge part of their team. Traore is passing the ball to inferior players this season.

The thing with Spence is interesting. He gets hammered on here and elsewhere but I'm not sure what people are expecting from a young lad who cost the club nothing to sign and presumably earns a relative pittance. He's already given the club good value for what he's cost, IMO. And, again, he's a wing back who has to get forward.... but when he does get forward there is no striker to pass to. No movement. It has been a problem for not just him but Bolasie, Watmore, Johnson, Kebano... all of the wide players and Tav as well. The lack of quality strikers has really broken us and made us look really poor at times over the past three months.

I think people forget this is his first full season as a senior. He needs coaching and experience. If he does join Wolves I'd wager we'll see at least 23 threads started before, say, Christmas next season asking why Neil Bausor 'only' got £5m for him.
Agee good post.

I like him and think he will become a top player, but probably not with us.
He's 20 year old , Wan Bissaka came through the Palace system then signed for Manure for £50m , he could end up another version of him in 2 year .
As Warnock said , some go away as boys on pre season break , and come back as men. Maybe this will be his time to grow into a man .

However it took Traore 2.5 years in England to score a goal - 50% of this board did not think he was footballer, before Pulis arrived, he was usually on the subs bench in the Championship under Monk.

I think Traore is well ahead of Spence at present but it at their respective same ages the differences were not big.

Utter nonsense. Traore was miles ahead of Spence at the same age and is a different class to him.
Spence has been awful this entire season.
The club has generated no money for a year and people don't think one of our poorest performers should be sold for £5m?

Total nonsense
I think I will trust a Premier League manager over some of the experts on here
Keep him for another season and see how he does
5 million is way too low for Spence anyhow

If he has another season like this one, we'd be lucky to get £1m, and his contract would be even closer to running out.

Get the money in and sign someone who can score and assist.

I think he has potential and could be worth a lot more in a season or two. Realistically though I think we'll take £5m if it's offered.

Indeedio

I said earlier in a post I thought £5m was currently a fair price with lots of add ons.

A lot of this board had little faith in Adama Traore by December 2017 (aged 21) - he had been at the Boro for 1.5 seasons without scoring and was an attacking player. I remember he came on as sub against Cardiff and gave away a poor penalty and people said get rid in their droves on here. Young players will go through bad spells and he is going through a bad spell.

As said by others if a successful Premiership manager is willing to open the bidding @ £5m, the lad must have something that make him a potential Premier League player.

I think 1 or 2 are getting carried away with the money they think clubs would pay for Spence now.
He is a very good athlete , who unfortunately has poor passing ability & defensive awareness issues who sadly does not seem to be improving this year at all, manager has praised him, & dug him out to try & get a reaction with little result.

I haven't read anything about why he was released by Fulham so couldn't comment on that. I think application may be a better term than attitude TBH, though I think it is to do with age and experience. I personally don't see Warnock consistently picking a player who has a bad attitude.
