I can't see it but hope I'm wrong.

I was hoping to see a wave of pessimism on the board to stop me getting carried away, It's the hope that kills ya....

If we are to win though we need to keep it 0-0 at half time I then think they'll come out and panic at the start of the second an we will be able to pick them off with a couple on the counter.

Right sod that, I've manged to change my mind in the time its taken to type this message, anyone know some good hotels for London.......

The Inter Cities Fairs Cup was an unusual competition in that not all clubs could qualify. For example if Liverpool qualified for Europe, Everton could not qualify in the ICFC.That is why it favoured one team cities like Leeds and Newcastle.

Strangely i had a dream months ago of us playing chelsea at the bridge and i remner them scoring at least 2 or 3 with. .sterling torturing us It didnt appear we were celebrating by the end. Dael fry looked gutted at full time as Madness tune blared out. BUT reality is chelsea struggle to break down teams that defend deep so im hopeful it will be close to tge wire than my dream/nightmare!

I see there is a huge following for ‘No’, maybe we are just very negative as Teessiders!

As someone stated above my heart says yes every week but unfortunately I usually listen to my head.

This is not strictly true as both QPR and Swindon won it as Third Division clubs and as such were barred from qualifying for the ICFC. In fact the Anglo-Italian Cup was originally created as a vehicle for Swindon to compete in Europe as compensation.
Didn't realise that. Bit of a shame for them.

Although I maintain that they did technically qualify, but were robbed of it :)

30.7% yes against 69.3% no is exactly in line with the bookies. Amazingly in line actually.

So it actually shows as a group we have a balanced and realistic view

To qualify

Middlesbrough - 9/4 converts to 30.8%
Chelsea - 1/3 converts to 75%

These are best odds hence the reason the percentages don't quite add up.

Keep thinking about this game. Wish it would hurry up. Hopefully we can beat Rotherham ( we should do) and go into this game with even more confidence.

chelsea should be massive favourites still, but miracles do happen, I'll go there expecting to get turned over 3-0, anything better than that is a bonus

As stated above, if we can keep it at 0-0 for at least the first 30 mins I think we have a real chance.

If they score early that would be us dead and buried in my opinion...

Yeah the start of the game is very important. Be interesting to see how we line up.

I don't think it's "very negative" to think that a Championship team might struggle to hold on to a lead against one of the big boys of the Premier League away from home.

We rarely ever keep a clean sheet in the Championship, let alone against a team with individual players who cost more than our entire squad.

We somehow managed it at home, because Cole Palmer missed every big opportunity he was given, we'll need to work even harder when they know that not scoring this time will send them out.

Stranger things have happened, but Chelsea progressing is the more likely outcome.

The question was "will we", not "can we".
Of course we can make it.

I think we're going to do it personally.

It just feels like Chelsea are in one of those moments, where everything is going wrong for them, and it's starting to feel like only a matter of time before Poch gets the sack.

Part of me was worried he got the bullet after we beat them at our place, as they might have kicked on with that new manager bounce by the time we played them again. But I'm kind of relieved they've stuck with him, hopefully us beating them next week is the finally nail in his coffin :D

I don’t see them sacking him regardless. They aren’t playing great but they have won 3 on the bounce in the league.

actually don’t think we played that well and that’s what gives me hope for the 2nd leg. Yes Chelsea will be better but we can be as well.
Yep I agree, we rode our luck. We definitely could put out a better team, so you can either look at it as Chelsea must play better, and should but so then should we, I think the personnel we put on to the pitch will have more cutting edge than the team that played most of last Tuesday and will be a little more rested.

I get what you're saying, but if we lose 2-0 with a 95th minute goal it won't feel much like a bonus :(

Agreed, but when all calms down a couple of weeks later we will feel we pushed a billion pound team all the way…at the moment the sensible money is on Chelsea comfortably winning

We can do it ! I am fully behind the lads. No doubt it will be tough and we could easily go there and get spanked 3 or 4 !

But we have gave them something to think about and there fans have to turn up to Stamford bridge and know they are in a game.
