Wilko on the Brink - 12000 Jobs At Risk

I thought this was more to do with the knocking down of the Castlegate Centre (where Wilko was) than the wider Wilko struggles?
Yeah the articles keep saying "14 stores confirmed" in the title to get clicks. Then it just speculates about administration, and lists 14 stores that closed last year.

I hope this is sorted out. Clearly, people use online shopping more than ever now, and that won't change. But they don't bring employment in the way that stores do.

This one's been rumbling along for a long time.
Can't see it surviving, big shame but the family who owns it (The Wilkinson's) are an absolute **** take. Took £3 million (2.25 going to the former) on divis last year despite at the time attempting to secure 30 mill in alternative lending due to shortfall.
2023's Woolies, as I've said previously and been bitten for, we're at the edge of serious bad times for the UK.
The rapid booming growth of Wilkos in the noughties even after the credit crunch (which was also partly responsible) was one of the factors that sent Woolies under.
15 years later and other stores such as Homebase etc will be having the same effect on them.
