Wilder on Transfers

Said he still wants 5 through the door.

To me that should be

Left sided centre back

2 midfielders

2 strikers

Sounded like at least 2 signings were very close too.
Is that at least? Or is that all he wants?
I think we still need
2 center halfs (1 back up, 1 LCB)
2 CM
3 Strikers - Provided Coburn heads out on loan and either Watmore or Akpom move on.

The two he said we're close to, Hoppe and Hannibal?

Yeah I think there is a possibility the strikers would end up being 3, Coburn will be loaned out and Akpom or Watmore will probs leave so yeah could see that increasing depending on departures.

I think we will only sign one LCB this window though.

The quality of players in WBA’s midfield & upfront by the end of the game was impressive. Dike was like the Hulk! It feels like we are going to get less established players.

From Wilder’s comments it sounded like all last year’s forwards will be going, I think a few of the signings will be calculated gambles (Forss, Hoppe & Hannibal) as don’t seem to be able to attract big players at the moment and will be more about work ethic and systems. Hoping the remainder will be Armstrong, Muniz as loan and someone like Grieves.

We should hopefully be able to score from more set pieces this year.

More Wilder quotes

Asked if it was still at that waiting stage, Wilder said: “I think it’s further down the line than that now. It’s just a case with a couple of not getting signed off by us or parent clubs in time for today. We’re down the line with a couple.

"Paddy [McNair] will be back for next week and everyone got through today okay, so that’s a bonus. We could quite easily have had another two or three in this week. We keep working away behind the scenes and hopefully we can make those happen in the next week."

I know it might sound daft but as we are looking after the pennies do youthink we are waiting until August 1st for signings so we have no payrol liabilities for July.

It would be a plus if we could sign someone who’s had a full pre-season and is up to speed, like an Armstrong, I’m not sure how much Hoppe and Muniz have been involved so you’d expect it’ll take them time to get going, like it will with Forss.
