Who's Still Behind Carrick

We don't have as bad a team as some make out. Not good enough for promotion, but should comfortably be finishing top half.

That's ten very experienced championship level players, who have all played in sides challenging at the top of the league (whatever you may think of them as individuals).

You then have Hackney who I think has more than proven they're at the same level but with less experience. Jones isn't exactly inexperienced either now.

Some of them need to pull their fingers out more this season, but we do have proven quality (at this level) all over the pitch. Bar probably centre forward, which is perhaps the biggest issue.

The squad certainly isn't as good as we'd hoped (we were probably a bit spoilt last year) but it's also not as bad as some make out either. It's certainly a lot better than bottom 3. Or at least should be.

I'd add O'Brien and barlaser to that list .

I'm 100% behind him and would happily take mid an 8th to 15th finish with that squad , as part of a " project Bournemouth/ Brentford rebuilt year one of three/ four " .

I think he's smart enough to do that with what we have.

If we reached Feb ( post loan window) , and were bottom 3, with experience on the bench , but projects starting in a 4 2 3 1 formation..

Then I'd be asking serious questions.. as relegation would be catastrophic for our club financially.

Last season Carrick proved he is a good Manager, as fans we enjoyed some delightful football with bucket loads of goals, albeit with a superior or so we think group of players.
Next couple of months are important to see how the new lads gel and what tune Carrick can get out of them.
This will tell if he is the man for the job, patience is a virtue, something us fans aren't very good at.
Super Michael Carrick

The shipping goals for fun is a big concern for me, some of the goals were pretty bad this season, half were preventable by determined defending from all the team not just the defenders. The team management and coaching staff and of course more importantly could/can do something about this. It didn't need Premier quality defending. Ultimately Carrick will have to take a lot of responsibility for this. A manager like Robins @ Coventry or Jones @ Luton would have acted by now.
It's this in a nutshell for me ..
From November to March, we were terrifying to play against, you could see the oppo ( full of experience often ) ... going " eh, whoah , wtf " ..

With chuba and Giles, they were on the back foot , but in motion. We tortured teams with 4 2 3 1.

Same formation, we've not got anyone terrified, because we're not in motion ( we're standing start dribbling)
... contain us and counter because we're soft touch.

We had a good team last year this year we dont need a rookie to get a tune out of cast offs.

His pre match interview he said if we keep doing the things we are doing we will get the result says it all about carrick we will stick with what we are doing until we get the result hope it works out for you michael .

What would you do differently in his job?

He doesnt have the prem players he needs to play his system but still he does it like he said in the interview if we keep playing the same way the results will come this weekend match will we interesting to see his lineup.

As someone who called this situation from a macro analysis at the start of the transfer window....

I back Carrick and people are right that it's not like we get a better manager in by default by sacking him.

I would like to see over the next couple of months an ability to be pragmatic, if the run continues post international break he has to change things quickly.

I'd also like to see an evolution in his in game management this season, it's been poor and was somewhat fortunate last year.

If come march time we don't see an improvement in his ability to influence the direction of a game and a manager target is available then maybe re consider but if we're top 12 and you can see ideas working then stick with him.

Carrick did very well last season. To finish 4th and play some exhilarating football at times was certainly beyond my expectations when he started.

His squad has been turned upside down with what I think has been awful looking recruitment.

We are five matches into the season.

To even contemplate removing Carrick is bizarre.
Things are very wrong and he has made some strange decisions this season, but Christ, he is not where our problems originate. Not at all.

The end of the run & loss of form had already started at the end of last season with the old squad. We were being overrun by physical teams, yes we've had some bad luck on goals for and against this season but I suspect it's a continuation of what had started earlier.
