Who's Still Behind Carrick

When we lose again this week how many more losses are you willing to take,

What a thoroughly disappointing negative opening post. "When we lose again this week..."

Fully behind Carrick, he's going through a tricky spell, along with the team, but he will be learning more through this period than when everything was rosy in the main part of last season. I'm sure he'll come through the other side of it and he'll be a better manager because of it and Boro will benefit.

Definitely still behind him.

I feel we have to stick by him, not so much out of loyalty to him, but for the sake of snapping out of this cycle of starting poorly, sacking the manager in autumn, doing well for the rest of the season, then doing it all again.

I'm more inclined to accept relegation then build again, rather than keep going round that hamster wheel

Getting all of the new recruits to gel is going to take time. Unfortunately we are going to be way adrift by the time the new guys are playing as a team. Mid table finish at best tis season.

Fantastic most of last season, completely new squad, need time to gel and get used to the championship.
Let's not panic, stick with the new model and re-establish ourselves.
Hold your nerve, don't panic, Mr Jones, don't panic...

Last season, for a rookie manager he hit lucky (no disrespect to him). Having Chuba have an unbelievable career season, the emergence of Hackney then having Archer and Ramsey come in and hit the ground running......

May have been better for him - and definitely reigning in the fans expectations - if we had a good, solid season then went from there. Expectations this season were huge, but losing the players we did it has become very apparent that we will struggle to hit last season's performances.

No pressure on Carrick from me, just think this season is going to be full of ups and downs. Need to show definite progression though. Performances like QPR in March won't be good

If you make decisions that work on a consistent basis then that isn’t luck.

By your reasoning you could say that Sir Alex Ferguson was a lucky manager.

No, it's nothing to do with his tactics/ set up etc.

My point is he was lucky to step into Boro, October 22, and inherent Akpom in the form of his life, Hackney who has been a revelation etc.

If he stepped into Boro Oct 23, he wouldn't have as good a squad to work with. And results would be very different. As is showing

Alex Ferguson inherited a bang average Man U team and it took him 4?5? years to turn it around so not sure where that's come from 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Given the average players we appear to have signed you can't blame the manager. Time will tell if they adapt to the league we are in. if they don't we are in big trouble

Was woodys squad (that nearly got relegated) better than the one we currently have or full of over paid/aged footballers coming to the end of their contracts?

He moved Akpom into a deeper role which was absolute genius. Not only did the goals continue but he was also a constant outlet for the midfield - we lost so much more than goals. He stuck with Hackney and coached and nurtured him, allowing him to thrive and develop. I know you’ve said no disrespect but that’s exactly what that is to just dismiss.

Re Ferguson - bang average? Bryan Robson, Brian McClair, Denis Irwin, Gordan Strachan etc -

However he didn’t really kick on until Cantona and that was a chance meeting about another player that led to that transfer. Then the emergence of Giggs, Becks, Scholes, Butt and the Neville’s.

Of course none of this is luck but it’s similar to what you’re saying about Carrick.

I’d give him this season until March no matter what. If we were looking in danger of going down by then (we won’t), then panic button. But changing managers every October is not helping the club achieve its long term objectives.
