Who will be crying out in chorus an allegiance to the king?

Doesn’t mean anything, just part of a ceremony, my main concern was they put the match back to my first day shift, boo!!

More like a billion, yet some of those within the sovereign nation itself find it a little bit embarrassing…..😁

So 7 billion won’t be watching then?
So what?

I’m sure of that billion who tune in, most will do so because of the ‘grand’ spectacle of it all.

Some will be thinking ‘I wish we had that’

Some will be thinkning ‘Thank **** we don’t have that’.

Some will be thinking ‘how (and why) the **** are they paying for that? I thought they were in a cost of living crisis and record numbers of kids were in poverty and people in full time work were using food banks and people couldn’t afford to put the heating on and nurses were having to strike just to try and fight against a 10% real terms pay cut and the health system is on the brink of collapse and inflation is rampant and and and etc etc? How much? £100 million! Who’s paying for it? The tax payer? But…. I’m confused 🫤

…Cut to scenes of people waving little flags and eating quiche and collectively chanting for God to let the king live forever and bowing and…..

‘Oh. I get it’

So yeah, I find it all a little bit embarrassing really.
But knock yourselves out, those who are going to have a party and enjoy it, that’s fine. Just as it’s fine that I won’t be indulging.
Power to the people n that. ✊

Isn't the Coronation about the monarch becoming head of the church in this country as opposed to him becoming king of the country.

He was king as soon as his mother was pronounced dead.

Why can't they just do it Hollywood style "The Queen is dead, Long live the King". It would save us an awful lot of money. Like this much,.

I’m trying to think what the opposite of a monarchist bootlicker is? Anyway Boromart encapsulates him/her. When I saw the thread title I instantly thought of his face turning red infront of his tablet, wiping crumbs from his morning toast from his mouth before launching his retort on the keypad. 😂
I’m proud to be the opposite of a monarchist bootlicker. No red faceless though, I leave that to the monarchists when it dawns on them they’re enabling a cult a leader

I'm not anti or pro royal, they just don't hold much if any real life relevance to me.
I like history and traditions and the royals have plenty of that, but at this time in my life I'm more concerned how I'm going to pay my bills, put food on the table and whether I will be having a good or bad day with my arthritis and mental health.
Maybe if you link the establishment, power and wealth and the aristocracy then you might realise it does impact you

I'm doubtless being pedantic here but clapping for nurses wasn't a meaningless gesture for me. It was for Johnson and co but I remain grateful for the NHS and all frontline workers who kept us alive during the worst of the pandemic.
And look how the establishment treat them when it comes to really showing thanks for their work

It’ll be well over that, the usual trick of attributing security costs to local councils instead of the cost of royality

£250m......for a few hours pomp and pageantry.

Considering the country is approaching/passed £2tn debt, just lobbing £250m on the pile is a bit extravagant - especially as the monarchy could easily afford every single penny without ever noticing the dint in the Coutts bank account.

Some people do get het up on other peoples lives, I prefer to worry about my own and those that I care about, wasting such energy and hatred on something you have no control over is pretty pointless. Like everything in life there are good things and bad things about everything, the Royals included. A bit of pomp and ceremony brings joy and happiness to many British people, why spoil it for them, just go about your daily lives bringing joy and happiness to others rather than wasting time on something you can’t control.

I hate Leeds Utd, I would like all it stands for, all traces removed from the face of the earth. It is an organised group that people contribute their own monies to, some willingly, some not so willingly (me included), but I realise I can’t control that despicable group of people i regard as nomarks. However, who am I to deny their followers their joy, their happiness, their anthems.

I am not meaning to directly compare Leeds Utd with the Royal Family by the way, I was just giving an example of an organised group that I hate with a passion that I would like to see disappear, but nothing I say or do will change it, so I will focus on what brings me happiness and control what I can within my own sphere.

Maybe he could have offset his inheritance tax avoidance to pay for it? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kinda misses a few key points. This is about the power and wealth in this country and how they expect to be treated as above the rest of us

“I don’t like the evidence so I won’t believe it”
Far from it, I was just wondering who they asked or who answers these polls. Although it sounds ironic as I'm discussing this with you on a football message board when I could and should be doing something better, I couldn't see myself wasting my time completing a poll regarding if we should become a Republican. ;)

It will happen but we won't see it.
