Who went to the Zenith Data Systems Cup Final?

Yep I was there - season ticket holder in The Holgate for years, but guess what, the year we get to the final the club decide not to issue season tickets for The Holgate - fuming ! I had to queue for hours with thousands who’d suddenly appeared for the final.
A pretty drab game it was too - think we should have had a penalty first half though

I was there and still have everything that erimus74 displayed other than the rosette. I had gone with a mixture of families and had a brilliant time. We stayed in south London the night before. We travelled up and came in the same way as the Chelsea fans and ended up drinking in one of their pubs. It looked like getting out of hand with Chelsea fans wanting blood. They started singing for us to give them a song and you just knew that this would be the excuse they wanted. We got the women and children near the exit ready for a quick escape. On our coach was a lot of bouncers from the town who shall we say could handle themselves. Instead of singing a football song, these lads started singing a Frank Sinatra number and ended up sitting on the Chelsea fans knees. To see this was hilarious and the hooligans didn't know what to do. There was about 15 of them ended up getting on our coach to go up to Wembley.

Me & my dad went to all the cup finals, he didn't want to go the UEFA cup final too much travelling for him
UEFA, Yeah, I missed out for that reason too, the owld feller was just too old and wouldn’t leave the owld dear anyway. Would have loved to have gone, but couldn’t go without him, wouldn’t have been right.

I went and it was a great day. Boro at Wembley seemed surreal at the time . It was great going to the national stadium.
Getting tickets wasn't easy
I went at 5 a/m with my mate Lol to the ground confident there would only be a handful of people in the queue before us. We were gobsmacked when we looked up the road seeing the crowd disappear around the hospital . Never been so happy as when we had those tickets in our hands.

Yeah, slept on the pavement all night for a West Ham ticket..😀....we went for the weekend, went to Trafalgar Square the night before, there was a fair gathering of Boro fans, nowhere near as many as the subsequent finals though.
I think we had played Oxford Utd away, we drove back from that game, went to the Madison, then straight down to Ayresome Park to queue for the West Ham tickets.

I hadn’t a ticket. Capital Gold were giving tickets away- free. I had my address, mother in laws and sister in laws so got 6 free tickets. Used 4 and sold a couple to a tout- all profit- lovely! Chelsea fans showing they were rightly labelled as some of the scummiest fans. Great day, disappointing result. Capital Gold who did commentary claimed it was Chelsea fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone at the end of the game- Wrong!

coluka I think they're a lot of us who are Jonahs, me I'm convinced it's down to the gypsies curse who we kicked off the site when we were going to start building Ayresome Park

My dad was convinced about the Gypsies curse too Erimus74. He even said to his mate when watching the Leicester final with on telly, with 5 minutes to go, “I’ll guarantee the gypsy curse will kick in, Leicester will equalise, Boro will kok it up” “His friend said to him nah, you are as good as home and hosed” 😢

To this day, when I am out and about and see what I believe to be a gypsy caravan, I always say “a curse on your axles, may all your wheels drop off” 😄

Yep, agree with that, to much bad luck throughout our history cant all be down to the Borop having an off day, we'll never know but I will always be convinced that is the case, sadly

I was there, sitting too close to the Chelsea fans for my liking. Can remember nothing else about the game.

Do remember the terrible song that some local pub rockers put out (Wembley, Wembley, We are there. Thanks to Slaven and Paul Kerr).

Remember much more about the semi final - particularly standing on a table in the White Rose when Brennan scored.

Couldn't believe the queue, down past the cemetery snaking around the hospital grounds, it was still open at the time, then round the streets. Went to wembley with a bus trip from my dad's work at seal sands. Remember being disappointed with the ground as a whole

Yes I was there. Stopped in a decent hotel too, right next to Marylebone underground station. A few of the lads with us went to watch QPR V Nottm Forest on the saturday. I was still too drunk from the previous night to attend!

I went down on the 'Wembley Special' train that went direct from Middlesbrough station the morning of the match. It had been advertised in the Gazette illustrated with pictures of an Intercity 125 - in reality it was made up of knackered old Mk.1 carriages. I'm not sure what route we took but it could best be described as circuitous - we started wondering if we'd make kick off!

We took in the QPR v Forest game on the Saturday too, wonder how many other Boro neutrals were there that day too? Other than Hartlepool or Darlo it was the first match I'd been too where I was a proper neutral and didn't have a leaning towards either side (you always favour Hartlepool or Darlo when watching them, but these two, meh. Didn't know what to do when QPR scored).

Before our next couple of Wembley appearances we took in a London Irish match, very pleasant and with Guinness on tap too!

me and my dad... lovely drive down in his car, got tickets of Ian Arnold ( anyone remember him), sat direct in line with the Dorigo free kick, 1990 - I would be 33 and my Dad 60 , Now I am 63 and my dad has passed 8 years ago... It was Boro at Wembley , we never thought we would see it together
