Who realistically could we attract as a new manager?

I hope you're not trying to equate Southgate to Alf Ramsay just to verify your argument there.
No, I’m very clearly not doing that, by saying *since* Alf Ramsey. I am equating Southgate to every other England manager though.

And I never rated him at Boro, as manager, to be fair. But facts are facts.

And Ramsay won the league title at Ipswich. Southgate relegated us. And what exactly has Southgate achieved as England manager?! I think you're confused.

Rico, I have just listened again and the Tees reporter clearly says Spence was missing due to attitude problems
Must’ve been a different interview. The one I heard had Drury suggest it was about his attitude but Woodgate said that it was due to him getting in the team and then letting his standards drop. He didn’t mention him having a bad attitude.

Either way, its not good and suggests that all is not well in the camp and there certainly isn’t the togetherness that Woodgate is so keen to mention each time he is interviewed.

I can understand the argument for not upsetting the applecart too much by bringing an experienced coach in to work alongside Woodgate. After all Gibson did it once before by bringing in Venables. As far as I can remember, we are the only team to have done this, there must be a reason why all other clubs replace failing managers rather than keep them on.
If a team is failing, it makes sense to bring in a new manager with no preconceptions regarding players, their attitude, tactics and team selection, a new broom, so to speak. Rumour has it that there was an argument regarding team selection between Woodgate and the coaching staff last week, if this is the case, it seems unlikely that Woody would defer to another persons opinion, whoever they were.
I think that may be why he gave that bizarre press conference last week, justifying team selection and pointing out that the youngsters weren’t the answer, I think those comments were for the benefit of Gibson and the other coaches, rather than the supporter.

The same, or better than, every other England manager since Alf Ramsey.

But I get it, you’re trolling, happy to humour you a little bit longer Mr “just a new user”.😃
