Who is the most famous person you have bumped into?

Robert De Niro outside the gates of his big house in Ireland. He gave me a slightly threatening version of the Boro nod.

Shared a lift with Robert Carlyle at Gatwick Airport.

Dylan Moran in an Edinburgh cafe. I tried to chat with him because I love Black Books, but I think the miserable get was in character.

Craig Johnstone used to live on Crescent Road when I did. Seems weird now, the idea of footballers living in a terraced house in the Boro.

Juninho at Heathrow airport. I had a boro training top and he nudged me and smiled....... It took me 2-3 seconds to clock who it was! I was totally gobsmacked and had no idea what to say.

A few months ago I was waiting for a bus outside the theatre royal in York. Someone came past very close and my only thought was “who is wearing a dress with the F***ing Bayeux tapestry on it?”

Edith Bowman, it turned out.

DJ Eric Hall, who was eating breakfast in Pellicis Cafe in Bethnal Green. I asked him whether it was true that Feddie Mercury had written the song Killer Queen about him, as he had made this claim in a documentary and he replied "Yes, he'd said Eric, you're my Queen but you're killing me" because apparently Eric kept knocking him back. Wasn't sure whether to believe him or not.

We were down to watch Boro play away at Charlton and when we told him we were down to watch Boro he asked "Are they playing Spurs?". Made me laugh to think he was supposed to be a football agent but was so out of touch with the game.

James May in a motorway services. He was busting for a dump and I didn't see him heading towards the toilet. As I came round the corner, I almost sent him flying. I, surprised said ' you're James May'. 'Yes I am and I'm busting for a crap'. he replied as he walked on.

Starstruck I was not. Got bloody long hair though.
That is absolutely the most James May thing he could have said. 🤣🤣🤣

Was in a taxi riding through Hyde Park the day before the 97 League Cup Final and spotted the Boro training.Told the taxi to stop and wait.Me and my 7 year old son got our photos with Juninho and Emerson. Clayton Blackmore as well but I don’t tell anyone that!!

My mate and I had a pint with Robin Del Naja in a pub in Edinburgh on New Year's Day a few years back. We were the only 3 people in there.

He was one of the founding members of Massive Attack, but is also widely rumoured to be Banksy. He didn't let slip either way.
yes, that's Banksy. Two of my friends here in Bristol know him.

Regarding this thread, I met Jack Charlton at Craven Cottage, 19 March 1974. Well, my dad introduced me to him before the match. I was 10 and he seemed like a giant, all I can remember, and his nice smile.

Mentioned it before but I had a couple of drinks several times with John Cusak who was in one of my favourite films Grosse pointe blank.

On the tube and Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams ( at the time) got on and came and sat next to me.

Actually bumped into Astronomer Royal Sir Martin Rees coming out of the Natural History Museum. He’s tiny.

Lanky grey haired furniture expert from Antiques Roadshow outside Harrods having a fag.

Nigel Pearson in Dickens buying an artificial Xmas Tree. Got talking to him as he had been visiting my wife’s school earlier in the day to present some prizes.

Stood next to and got chatting to Kevin Phillips in a queue for a ride at Lightwater Valley. Real nice lad ( cough)

Mike Neville gave me a 50p piece when I hadn’t the correct change for a car park in Newcastle. Top bloke he was. Really kind an affable.

Met Patrick Bamford at Mambo in Ibiza, weeks before he was sold. The next day ended up at a beach club with Jamie O'Hara and Calum Best (scraping the barrel, I know :D )

Also met Steve Angello (of Swedish House Mafia fame) walking down the road in Playa den Bossa after they'd just played. Nobody else seemed to recognise him so had a quick chat with him before people started to clock who it was.

Met Tyson Fury at a Village Hotel near Manchester, training for his first come back fight. Walked into the lift and Ben Davison was in there, took me a few seconds to clock him but just had to ask if Tyson was there. He said he was, that he was coming down to breakfast shortly. Ended up talking to him for a minute or so but he was with his wife and kids so didn't want to be chewing his ear off!
