Who is the better “finisher” Kane or Vardy

Yes it would be great if Kane could help deliver some trophies for England, it’s long overdue and he is the best England striker we have had since Lineker in my opinion.
As much as I disliked him at the time surely that has got to be Shearer, he had everything, good in the air, brilliant finisher inside and outside the box.

Shearer was outstanding and I never understood the absolute hatred he received from some Boro fans. I think Kane might have already scored more goals for England than Shearer though, so it could be argued Kane is already better for his country I suppose.

We hated him cos we were jealous:ROFLMAO:

I hope his fitness isn’t a problem, I’m just watching this match v Wolves now and he doesn’t look too sharp to me.
Until he scored of course....

I always thought Shearer was better for his clubs than England. Some players are like that, I think it must always be difficult to embed good teamwork at international level when you have a few big egos involved. Shearer maybe felt more comfortable in the club situation.

If Kane stays fit, there’s no reason he can hit 3rd in all time PL scorers by the end of next season

If he stays fit he will get very close to Shearer too. I've just looked at his England record and he's on 34 from 58 games with a 0.79 goals per game. That's higher than almost everyone else at the moment.

If I remember correctly Shearer went about 15 England games without scoring before Euro 96.

I personally think he will break shearers all time record. Though obviously injuries / moving abroad could scupper that

Kane all over. There's no question that he's the best English striker and could easily end up as the best overall.
Won't get close to being a better striker overall than Shearer.

Give me prime Shearer over prime Kane every single day of the week.

Very different players, suiting very different sides, suiting different oppositions and finishing is only one small piece of the puzzle.

I'd say Vardy, for finishing with his feet, it's harder to finish running at Vardy's pace and Vardy probably gets less good chances (on average).

I think Kane has better awareness, so will get himself more chances, and I would expect he would have more opportunities/ created, by playing with Spurs (whether spurs make the most of that is a different matter). Kane better with his head.

Kane is a better striker of a ball when not running with it at speed, but I wouldn't read much into strikes from distance, as they're still largely luck, no matter who is shooting. I would expect that more dominant teams get more time around the edge of the box too.

For a very counter-attacking side, Vardy is the man and would outperform Kane I expect, but for the vast majority of sides I think Kane would be a better choice.

Kane scores a goal every 17.65 shots, Vardy scores a goal every 18.92 shots so as a finisher Kane is better than Vardy, the fact that Kane has more efforts from outside the area than Vardy makes Kane’s figures more impressive.

Interestingly they’ve both played 242 games in the Premier League, Kane has 164 goals, Vardy has a 116 I think that’s a far summation of their respective abilities at finishing.
Stats are only a headline. Who has had the better service. How many chances to score those goals. What are their relevant xg. I don’t know the answer but all these things should be taken into consideration rather than a lazy summary of Kane has better goal to minute ratio

Kane would probably still come out of top

Answering the original top of conversation, I think Kane is the better striker, however, Vardy has been incredible.

Leicester was the perfect fit for him, they built their team to get the best and most out of him. His pace along with his finishing has been excellent.

I think it's going to be tough for Leicester to replace him in the next season or two.

His story is one of the greatest stories to come out of football. It's literally Roy of the Rovers stuff.

As for Kane, he's arguably one of, if not, the best strikers in world football.

He simply has to leave Spurs this season. He should be challenging for the best trophies.
