Who are we all wanting to see replaced in the summer?

Lots of messages on other threads alluding to poor recruitment / some of the players and other staff members not being good enough etc. Looking ahead to the summer, who do we want rid of and why do we want rid of those particular individuals. Assuming we have a bit of cash available to replace players and don’t just have to hold on to people to make up the numbers…

I would be looking to move on…

Dael Fry because he simply doesn’t fit the style of football and in my opinion needs a new challenge.

Dan Barlaser because he doesn’t have anywhere near the levels of defensive quality we require from a deep lying playmaker.

I wouldn’t be looking to keep Sam Greenwood because I think he has generally been quite poor, doesn’t really have a set position and I don’t really see a lot potential in him.

I wouldn’t be looking to keep Ayling as although I thought in his first couple of games he looked useful. He does now appear to be a player with a few two many miles on the clock.

I wouldn’t be trying to keep Luke Thomas as he simply looks poor. Nowhere near as good as our other options at left back.

I am guessing we will also lose Paddy McNair, Anfernee Dijkstell and Lewis O’Brien though I think they all have something to offer and in a perfect world would like them to stay on.

I think it would probably be quicker to do a list of who should stay
Ok well where possible I would keep…
Dieng
Smith
Lenihan
Van Den Berg
Clarke
Engel
Howson
Hackney
O’Brien
McGree
Jones
Forss
Azaz
Latte Lath
Coburn

Keep - Dieng, Glover, Fry, Van Den Berg, Lenihan, Bangura, Engel, Barlaser, Jones, Latte Lath, Coburn, Forss, Azaz

Leave - Hackney, McGree, Clarke, Dijksteel, McNair, Hoppe, Gilbert, Silvera, Howson.

I feel Hackney and McGree will be sold to help with the rebuilding of the team, McNair will walk away on a free and the rest should be told thank you but goodbye. I wouldn't take up the option of Greenwood and not so sure about O'Brien. I would like to see Dijksteel play some part but I don't think he would want to.

I wouldn't sign any of the loan players, with the possible exception of O'Brien if he shows good form in the last period of the season.

I'd personally be fine offering McNair an extension, but I won't blame him for wanting to move somewhere that he'd be guaranteed game time.

I'd offer Howson an extension on the understanding that he would be there as back-up, with a new midfielder a priority (unless we sign O'Brien and Hackney stays).

I'd sell Dijksteel and bring in a new first choice right back, with Smith as back-up.

Loan out or sell Hoppe and Gilbert.

I agree with you on Hackney and McGree but I would be really concerned if we lost them. I really don’t think we’d be able to replace them with anything like the same quality.

- A strong number 10 in the Akpom mould (I’m not expecting 30 goals, just a similar type of player)

- Another pacy number 9 similar to Lath

- a left sided playmaker to compete with McGree assuming we don’t keep Greenwood

- a ball playing centre back comfortable with carricks style

- a ball playing holding midfielder comfortable with carricks style

To leave:

- Coburn out on loan

- Greenwood back to Leeds

- send the two loan full backs back

- release McNair at end of contract

- sell one of Fry / Clarke / Lenihan

- sell one of our left backs if we can sign an upgrade

- sell one of our right backs if we can sign an upgrade

I agree with you about trying to replace them but don't feel we can stand in the way of Hackney and his progress but would love to see him here again next season. With McGree, I don't think he would be happy to spend another season in the Championship and would be looking for a move.

I'd keep dieng, lath, howson, hackney, vdb, Jones, bangura, lenihan, Smith, mcgree, forss, azaz.
Rest can do1.

I'd be very surprised if Hackney doesn't leave in the Summer .. he should be 15 - 17 miliion ( realistic add ons to 20 million.
I'd like to think this, plus a few million from this years sales will be available for transfers.

To be Top six , we need probably 4 or 5 starters.
RB with pace, 2 x CM ( one defensive/ athletic, the other a goal threat ) a genuine LM / LW

I’d be amazed if McGree is still here, and unfortunately i can see Hackney the subject of a large bid, and even though i think he wants to stay, the club will cash in if the price is right - huge rebuild needed

There's not a single player I would be disappointed to see leave (for the right price). The problem is that I'm not sure I trust us to spend the money wisely enough that any replacements would be genuine upgrades.
