Fk me mate, that’s the most reasoned and sensible political comment I think I’ve ever read on this website. They are currently to the left of centre somewhere between soft left and left of centre on Easterside’s scale, just like Blairs government was, anybody thinking otherwise must be mainstream or hard left. People really need to understand the political make up of the country and understand what it needs and takes to be electable.
No matter what the mainstream/hard left supporters on here feel, you can never win an election in Britain on such a mandate as things stand. The best bet is get elected as a moderate left of centre party first then start playing the softly softly catchy monkey game and make changes slowly but surely without lurching heavily to the left and that way you may take the people with you on a journey toward your preferred destination across time.
i think you will find that 'Thatcher' comes after Cnut, not before.Sorry mate that selection just isn't nuanced enough for the left-wing veterans on here.
You must include the following options at least:-
Hard-left
Mainstream-left
Soft-left
Left of centre
Centrist
Tory
Tory-lite
Right wing
Thatcherite
Cnut
Or in the same sentencei think you will find that 'Thatcher' comes after Cnut, not before.
I can't believe that Thatcherite comes before cnut.Sorry mate that selection just isn't nuanced enough for the left-wing veterans on here.

I studied Politics at A level and the teacher was a Liberal candidate councillor/wannabe MP, he once suggested to me that I should join the liberal party and maybe think about standing for office once I’d gotten some work experience under my belt after 6th form and Uni. I told him I was too bright to stand as a Liberal, and anyway, I would want to be able to stand for a party that could make a difference He often got flustered over some of my thoughts on changing the face of UK politics, but for some reason he appreciated the idealism in me at that time, I’ve mellowed since.Fk me mate, that’s the most reasoned and sensible political comment I think I’ve ever read on this website.
