I have a home in Bedale and it’s great!
I live close to Stanhope Park and just take the train to Middlesbrough, but we downsized when we retired and came home, so we bought a 3 bed apartment rather than a house.![]()

3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale in Harley Grove, Darlington, DL1 for £195,000. Marketed by J W Wood, Darlingtonwww.rightmove.co.uk
This is 2 minutes from the A66 East of Darlington - can be at the Riverside in 25 minutes - It used to be an easy drive into Darlington Centre too. Good access to A1 too.
This area is fairly respectable and relatively cheap.
At least Catterick has the protection of the NYPD though.Richmond is where we chose 26 years ago - and have never wanted to move away again.
Catterick...not so much...
Relative moved to Carmel road not too long ago, nice area have to say, some posh houses but some affordable ones too.Yes, or Blackwell or Carmel Rd area if you want to be in Darlington itself .
Winston's a bit dead these days. My parents used to live there, but the village shop has gone and the pub's closed. Certainly quiet unless the RAF are practising low-level flying up the Tees.If you are commuting into central Darlo for work the easiest road is Conniscliffe Road (basically the road towards Barnard Castle) The other roads into the town centre can be very busy in rush hour. There are some lovely houses on Coniscliffe Road and the villages out that way are all pretty good. Have a look at somewhere like Winston (about halfway between Barny and Darlo) Winston bridge is the one that they flew a Spitife under for a TV series. The main advantage of that road is that it does not have a junction with the A1 so there is no traffic coming off the motorway.
NIMBYRichmond - actually no. I live there and there’s enough of us here now![]()
