Where would you live around Darlington?

A couple of weeks ago I was offered a new job in Darlington. Wasn't sure if I was going to accept but have decided to take it. I love my current role but this is a significant promotion and pay rise. As this will likely be my last role before retirement, and so retirement benefits will be based on that higher salary, it seems too good an opportunity to turn down.

Long time since I've been to Darlington and the surrounding areas, so looking for thoughts on best places to live within, say, 30 minutes of Darlington centre?

Cheers :)

It depends on what sort of house you want. There are new estates in Middleton St George, Hurworth, and the sw side of Darlington at Blackwell.

If you want an older house, with a bit more space then try Middleton One Row, Croft, Long Newton, some of the villages beside the A167 at Dalton, East Cowton on the road to Northallerton. High Coniscliffe, Merrybent and the villages up to Winston are nice too. I'd avoid the new developments on the nw side of Darlington, from Cockerton on the A68.

Very good point.

Not a new build.

Preferably detached. 3 bed.

Cheers.

Skerne Park. It's class man.😉

I tell you where is nice and ridiculously cheap to buy a house Cockfield, and the villages around it. Lovely area too, about 20/25 minutes from Darlington.
