What's the maximum you'd want to see us pay for Cameron Archer?

Personally, I don't think he'll be up for sale. I think he's well thought of at Aston Villa (can't blame them neither!).

I hope if we go up, we get him on loan again as him and Chuba's partnership is blossoming and looking stronger/better with each passing game.

His pace is frightening and his finishing is very good. And with the fact he's only just turned 21, he's only going to get better.

However, everyone has their price.

I personally wouldn't object to splashing £25m on him.

I think we could do a hell of a lot worse for £25m.

I do think the fact MGW went to Nottingham Forest for a similar fee last summer means we'd probably have to fork out around the same for Archer.

I’m in agreement. I see huge potential in him and he just looks like a pest who will score goals at any level really. If we were to pay between 25 and 30 million for him on promotion I think it would be money well spent and huge statement of intent.

If we did manage promotion, I also think we wouldn't lose money on him if we suffered relegation at the first attempt.

One good season in the Premier League and he's a £50m player. Two good seasons and potentially £75m+. For that reason, Villa will not sell him on the cheap. I think £25m is about right, plus add ons for England call ups, etc and a sell on fee and/or buy back clause. It's just whether they think he is good enough and ready to play regularly in a top 10 side, which is what they will aspire to be next season. If not, I could see them selling to put the funds towards a more finished article.

Yeah I think they may target someone abroad. I have actually seen them linked with a move for Lukaku

Anything is an investment on the guy really so long as we don't let his contract run out (something we have fell foul of in the past)

it’ll depend on who else comes in for him. I can see half the prem going for him if the price is only 12m.

I think Villa would sell this summer and it is all about the price.
If we are promoted then he will have been a big part of why and Villa will want a huge fee.
If we could get him for £20m on promotion I think it would be a remarkably good deal.
It is clear he is a talent, but it is his linking with Akpom that is a huge extra benefit.
It's likely the club would have to commit more. MGW being exhibit A, although he had played 48 matches for Wolves in the PL.

I would also sign Gyokeres in any case. I think him with Akpom would be fabulous.
If Villa would not sell Archer for anything less than a MGW type fee then I would go for him on another loan.
We would need 2 very good strikers for PL survival. So I would sign Gyokeres AND Archer.

I get the impression he's not well thought of by Emery. And Emery likes playing with 1 striker - so Archer will find it hard to displace Watkins.

However, I think Villa's fans, backroom staff etc all like what they see in Archer.

Hopefully Emery gets his own way, which helps our case.

I do think we need to be promoted this season to stand any sort of chance of getting him back here for next season - whether that's on loan or as a permanent signing.

We were screaming for £20m for Spence last year, I fear you're looking at at least that for Archer, something we wouldn't be looking to do even if promoted.

Another loan would probably be more realistic.

If we offered anything less than £25m plus addons Villa would just laugh at us and sell him to another Premier League club, we'll only be able to have any chance for him if we go up. We would be more likely to be able to sign Ramsey imho.

We wanted a lot for Spence because we thought every top club in Europe wanted him, and there was going to be a bidding war.
As it turned out, only Daniel Levy wanted him.
