What was your first ever Boro home game?

I don't remember clearly - though I always recall sitting in the east stand & the team wore green.... though I was way young...
what I do remember are the night games & the smell of Bovril in the air, flood light pylons as you turned successive corners approaching the ground... & sometimes chips from Chipchase* Road chippy in old newspaper, loads of salt & vinegar on...

smell of the pitch & how slick it looked under lights...

* edit - shows how much I remember :-D

Mine was a 2-1 home win over Everton. Funny enough, my first Boro away game was years earlier away at Sunderland at Roker Park but that's a story for another day.

Late 60s or very early 70s, against (I think) Man City in a cup match? I'll have been something like 6 or 8. It was absolutely packed and I was with my older cousin. All I remember is getting trampled as the crowd surged back and forward. Had to be passed back over people's heads and taken out!

Against Stoke City in a League Cup game, lost 2-1,must have been early seventies.
Erimus74 will know the details, he's a walking talking encyclopaedia of all things Boro, only wish I knew a fraction of his knowledge.

3 - 0 v Sheff Utd, Tony McAndrew hat trick. Thought all the games were going to be that easy. The follies of youth!

1-0 home defeat to Tranmere in Robson's first season. Stood in the South-East corner. I think not being able to see in my younger days is part of the reason why standing at games has never really appealed to me!

I don't know my 1st home league game, early 1971-72 season though I do remember my 1st FAC match, which was also coluka, a 3rd round replay home v Man City 15th January 1972, with a big John goal sealing the win with the only goal

Snow all around the advertising boards, Man City in their iconic away strip me, aged 11 & my younger brother, aged 10, in the boysend, our dad infront seperate by a wall in the Bob end

1973-74 Maccarone, after drawing 1-1 at the Victoria ground in the 1st game, a replay at AP with Boro losing out 2-1 after extra time, Alan Foggon getting our goal, the winners were drawn to either Coventry or Bristol City
