What was your favourite teletext/oracle page?

Channel 4 had some good stuff for teenagers in the Zine section. I think that the numbers were quite close to the Bamboozle puzzle.

When I browse scores on the BBC app weekend I frequently wonder if it would be possible to present it in the style of Ceefax. I'd certainly opt for that format.

Having the live scores on, with the TV programme running in the background.

I used to use the shares prices page particularly today's top rises and fallers. It was actually quicker than the the internet for basic information and free.

I can't remember the page numbers, it was 30 years ago.

I did a teletext allocation on arrival holiday in marmaris and it was regularly featured on worst hotels in Europe shows 😂

Was this place

🙂 I never had the ba11s to go for an 'allocated on arrival' option.

Check this out!!!

I used to write a very short weekly Boro column on teletext. It had to be short to fit in the box. I think I was paid a tenner.
It didnt continue that long but people would often come up to me and talk to me about it. Teletext and Ceefax had a really big reach.

Loads of ads for cheap flights - it was like Bucket Shop Heaven.

I booked a flight to Paris on DanAir in 1991 through a Teletext Ad.

That's the bit I remember most vividly. There was a kind of letters page for quirky teens, where some really random and funny stuff was discussed. The moderator was called WLW and it was never revealed what it stood for, but people would always try to guess.

I could never get my head around people booking holidays off teletext 😂. How on earth did you know where you were staying etc 🤷

There was a lad on CH4 Zine/ Ceefax pages called John Homer. He used to review albums and I bought a few on the strength of his recommendations ( sometimes of artists/bands I had never heard of) and they were always spot on.
