What vinyl have you bought recently / dusting off for a play?

That's Hifi Sounds isn't it?

My speakers were the last I upgraded. I had a pair of Elac Debut b5.2's which cost £300 when I bought them and they were great. Even the night before I upgraded I was thinking did I need to do it? So on the final day of listening I took them along and played my demo music through them followed by my short list of approx another 7 pair of speakers and every other pair was far better than the speakers I started with. The ProAc's for me though we're head and shoulders better than anything else I was comparing with.

About a week later they'd got some £25000 speakers setup for a demo and said I'd love to hear them just to hear how good they were but thought better of it 😂
Yeah it is, great setup there

I've basically decided to upgrade everything in my chain apart from speakers, which I am currently happy with.

So I'll get the Rega Aria - I did compare this against the Graham slee accession they had in but I absolutely preferred the sound of the aria

After that I'll get the planar 6 with Ania pro, they didn't have the pro to demo against but I figure if breaking out the rest of it might as well

Then I'll trade my lyngdorf 1120 for a 3400

Speaker weight is a big thing for me as I've got 2 cats that grew up into 8kg bruisers and forced me to rethink our entire setup as they were knocking over my bookshelf speakers on mounts wtx

Even these are like 25kg and I've had to mount them to plinths for stability

I'm always looking out for bargains vinyl wise and over the last few days from Amazon I've got:

Leonard Cohen - Songs From a Room (£8.75)
Mull Historical Society - This Is Hope (£14.02)
Worriers - Trust Your Gut (£15.81)

The Worriers album is great, a new release a couple of months back and their second of the year. I should add them into the new music thread.

I've also received the new Ist Ist live album. All those waiting to be cleaned before playing.
Do you follow that cheap vinyl deals page on fb? They post a lot of guff but every now and then there is a bargain

The Ania Pro is definitely worth going for, you won't regret it.

I'm definitely going to have to check out phono stages in the near future 😁

I do, that's where these occasionally pop up on. As you say loads of stuff I've no interest in but there is stuff appears amongst it. I've also got a wishlist I add to and check that every now and then. Most of my purchases come from other online record shops though.

My Favourite is Last Night From Glasgow. I love Scottish bands in general and they're re-releasing loads of albums every year with new releases mixed in. If you have one of the subscriptions they offer they also give discounts on other major releases they stock. I started off with a six album subscription, this year I went with a 25 album subscription (approx £11 per album) and for next year I've upgraded to their top tier (which they don't release very often) where I've purchased all their releases for the next five years. Crazily it brings the price of each album down to approx £7.50. A no brainier for me.

I've had an expensive 2 weeks and have a very understanding girlfriend.

Upgraded my lyngdorf TDAI-1120 stereo amplifier to the 3400 model and bought two svs sb-16 ultra subwoofers. Have the amp now but my dad is collecting the subs on 23rd dec and bringing them back with him

Now got to flog my old stereo amp and my old subwoofer 😂

Still planning to get the Rega p6 with the Ania phono stage though, but maybe wait a little for that.

Interesting figures. Not surprised about Taylor Swift. She is prolific but pumps out extremely well made songs and her vinyl releases are very collectible. The album of hers I picked up on record store day now sells for about £200. The sheer size of her figures compares to everyone else though is wild.

The wife bought me Hackney Diamonds on vinyl for Christmas and I took it out of the cover and played it for the first time at the weekend. I was surprised at how heavy it was compared to some of my other vinyls, especially the ones I have bought recently.

Love Lewsberg. Currently playing their latest release Out And About

Bought that last week myself. Brilliant band aren't they.

Fortunate enough to see them a few times too, including opening for Pavement in Copenhagen (y)

New Bill Ryder-Jones is my most recent, it's a sublime album from the one of the UK's very best (according to me anyway:)

Will be picking up The Smile's second on Fri.

I've only seen Lewsberg once, at Bobiks in Newcastle. They're excellent though. Love all their stuff.

I was listening to the Bill Ryder-Jones album yesterday. Sounds great of first hearing. Also been impressed with the Marika Hackman and Sprints albums

Does anyone know if anywhere local is doing RSD this year? With sound it out gone, the RSD website shows the nearest being Newcastle atm which I imagine is a nightmare
