Interested in people's thoughts on phono stages - am going to demo some setups soon, but have seen various price points for phono stages/preamps.
For example project do a fairly cheap one for £50 or so, and many amplifiers have built in phono stages. Then rega / Graham slee and others do some mm/mc ones at around £200, and then there's stuff like Rega aria which is £1,100 or Graham slee accession similar price point
Do you get a noticeable jump in quality at those points?
I used to just use my receiver for playing music but got a lyngdorf stereo amplifier which drastically improved everything accross HT, music etc and that wasn't cheap, but a phono preamp would only be for the turntable and while I'm not adverse to shelling out for quality, I'm trying to anticipate just how big that quality jump is for such a big price jump. At the same time I don't want to have decent speakers, decent amplified, decent turntable and a cheap phono preamp as a weak point in the chain
I'm looking at pairing it with Rega p6 with Ania or Ania pro most likely
