Compared to the rest of Switzerland Basel did look a bit of a dump. Surprises me there were muggings though, Switzerland seemed so prosperous and safe when I was there

I don’t think anywhere is particularly safe, murderous humans, killer critters and creatures abound the world over. You’d need to be somewhere that wasn’t worth attacking with a small population with a hospital and gun ownership licensed and alcohol consumption frowned upon capable of growing food sustainably. Probably a large island miles from anywhere that banned tourism.

I read an article yesterday from a recent City AM newspaper saying how rich non - dom people were leaving Britain since the Budget and in one case going to South Africa to pay less tax. Quoting how sunny it was.

I thought of a rich person swapping London for Johannesburg - its certainly not something I would do.

Sky News reported today 8.5M people in South Africa have AIDS many have desperate lives and do desperate things. Medical support has in many cases 100% come from the US department that Trump abolished today? Is that somewhere you would want to live?

I live in Ljubljana and it's beautiful and very safe but I'm from Billingham so my barometer is not very high on this subject.

Are safest and feel safest the same? I love where I live and Im very happy, I enjoy a holiday but want to be home after a few days. I found something out about myself, I only go to places I can relate to or have a strong interest in. Im not adventurous.
