What is hugely overrated?

Well that was fun. Agree about the pyramids and the mannequin both underwhelming but my number one disappointment was the statue of liberty. I always thought it was massive.
It's about three times the size of the Angel of the North.

Yeah but the angel of the North is also disappointing and it doesn't have to compete with the new York skyline so looks bigger.
The angle it looks good from is from the river with the statue of liberty in the foreground, and the skyline in the distance.

The first time I saw it was from an office on the shoreline in Jersey. I was so disappointed it looked tiny. A week later I got the ferry over and it was a bit meh. I expected to be able to go in, get a lift to the top and have a coffee looking over the manhattan skyline. I was very disappointed. Its a tin model.. Copper actually but that's not quite as dismissive as tin.

The atrium in trump Tower is quite impressive.

Been twice. Second time was in transit on the way back from Sumatra. Some nice parts of the island granted; but like @Andy_W said it's Benidorm for Aussies.

Gili Islands were nice, but the mainland I saw wasn't :( The bus and boat journey to the islands was a big rough as well

Lombok is beautiful but spoiled by the illegal gold mines and use of mercury.

Gili islands are beautiful and love the fact there are no cars. Horse and cart from the boat terminal to the hotel was awesome.

Yeah Lombok was better than the Island Denpasar is on, albeit I didn't get long in Lombok.

Yup! Made out to be paradise, but from what I saw it was a ********. It's also like Benidorm for the worst Aussies.

We got to Kuta late at night. I wondered what the **** was going on. Like a war zone. Swiftly moved on.

Parts were ok, (Ubud for example) but nothing like the island paradise it's made out to be. Also very samey. Once you seen one temple in Bali, you've seen em all.

Did sit on a bench with Katie Perry at the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise though. Not quite as exciting as it sounds. Her obese mate was sat in-between us and I didn't recognise her till later on. She and her "entourage" all sounded (unsurprisingly) as annoying as fook too. Still, it's an anecdote.
