Which is all fine, but KS won’t be here very long and they’ll rip all that up and start again with a new “golden thread”.
We’ve had all these new dawns that last five minutes, the Juninho link up - the Athletico Madrid partnership - Bevingtons golden thread etc etc.
We will continue to lurch from one style to another, every summer our squad will be built up largely of loans who come and go, building nothing long term. That 25m could of been reinvested in a new, longer term squad.
Steffen, Giles, Mowatt, Muniz….the merry go round will start again next summer. I doubt KS will be here to strategise it.
The "nucleus" of the club is what Scott was brought in to fix, on and off the pitch, so even if he himself is to leave in the future, the overall structure remains the same.
We can all see we "own" a very weak squad, which always has to be improved by loan players.
However, it would need £££ to fix that, which we don't really have.
The other option is what's already happening, bringing in young players on long term contracts, relatively cheap, and adapting them into our system...
Hoppe is 21, signed a 4 year deal.
Forss is 23, signed a 4 year deal.
McGree is 23, signed a 3 and a half year deal.
Boyd-Munce is 22, signed a 3 and a half year deal.
It also goes down to the youth team... Bryant Bilongo (20) and Kamil Conteh (19) are good examples.
Even if it doesn't work out this season... We can all almost guarantee at least some of those players will be better next year, and the year after, and the year after that...
