Had a lovely stroll along the Tees the other day and must of negotiated 50 or so fellow walkers heading towards me on the path . As you’re approaching each other you ( and probably they ) are planning how to suitably deal with passing one another .
Mindful of social distancing yet not looking like a werewolf with the sun rising upon them and looking like a frenzied alarmist I planned undertaking the task down to the last detail .
Is there a passing point where I can tuck into thats closer to me or them ? If it’s nearer them and they steam past it , my mind immediately alerts me that they abondonly do not cherish life .
My head shoves me into Defcon 2 and then it’s a matter of holding my breath and nodding as we pass , probably with bloated purple cheeks making them more alarmed about me than me them .
If suitably distanced when passing I came out with “ by eck should be over soon “ and other saving grace is the weather “ by lovely innit “ blanketing the unease.
It’s even worse when walking in the same direction and you’re getting closer to them and then your like a Grand Prix driverplanning your pass . If they’re catching on you its easy , you Just stop and pretend to read your phone holding breath till they pass . Onus is on them and they can’t see your cheeks .
Never imagined walking along the Cleveland Way would one day be like planning an army manoeuvre
