What’s your comment when squared up with a walker

Had a lovely stroll along the Tees the other day and must of negotiated 50 or so fellow walkers heading towards me on the path . As you’re approaching each other you ( and probably they ) are planning how to suitably deal with passing one another .

Mindful of social distancing yet not looking like a werewolf with the sun rising upon them and looking like a frenzied alarmist I planned undertaking the task down to the last detail .

Is there a passing point where I can tuck into thats closer to me or them ? If it’s nearer them and they steam past it , my mind immediately alerts me that they abondonly do not cherish life .
My head shoves me into Defcon 2 and then it’s a matter of holding my breath and nodding as we pass , probably with bloated purple cheeks making them more alarmed about me than me them .

If suitably distanced when passing I came out with “ by eck should be over soon “ and other saving grace is the weather “ by lovely innit “ blanketing the unease.

It’s even worse when walking in the same direction and you’re getting closer to them and then your like a Grand Prix driverplanning your pass . If they’re catching on you its easy , you Just stop and pretend to read your phone holding breath till they pass . Onus is on them and they can’t see your cheeks .

Never imagined walking along the Cleveland Way would one day be like planning an army manoeuvre 🤔

I genuinely opened this thinking it was going to be some sort of confrontation that Kyle Walker had gotten himself in to!

Ah the trials and tribulations of living in a pandemic :)
Totally agree though, when you're in meerkat mode and scanning the area, planning routes to maintain social distancing and plotting escape areas if it all goes pear shape then there is nothing worse than someone either totally unaware of their surroundings or wilfully heading towards a confrontation that you know can be avoided.
I had this issue today on the stairs up to Norton Co-op. I was a third of the way up the stairs when a bloke started to come down them. It was either tough it out or turn tail like a scolded cat to allow him to continue down and then give him a withering look to remind him that he should be a bit more considerate. As it was I sort of turned my back to him as I scooted past, as if he had just dropped a napalm-level fart.

Is there a passing point where I can tuck into and graciously stand thats closer to me or them ? If it’s nearer them and they steam past it my mind immediately alerts me that they abondonly do not cherish life .

I have a near neighbour that works at the Malton Bacon Factory, do you want me to see if he can loan out his 2M animal stunning rod? ;)

Should give them to the coppers when they have to police the Anfield stadium surroundings the day they win the league . Especially Everton supporter coppers

As an Englishman, regardless of how píssed off I might be, the most I ever really manage is a 'tut' and a glare.

I did stray from this last week though and I just lost my shít a bit with a guy who pretty much barged into me while I was choosing a wine for mrs fufkin. I just shouted "what the fùćk are you doing?" but all I got in response was "chill out mate". He bought 2 bottles of plonk and as he walked out after paying, he bumped his bag against the door and one bottle broke. I felt it was justice

I was in sainsbury's waiting patiently for a lady to examine and then choose a vegetable for her basket. I was after the potted herbs, and when she didn't vacate the area I wanted to go, I gently coughed and said, "excuse, me love, that plant over there has my name on it" I gave her a smile and she realised she was dallying and moved away. As I stepped in, she looked over her shoulder and said, "nice to meet you Basil". Chuckled

I'm not looking forward to going out at all.

Seems like everyone is stressed out while I'm calm at home sitting in my garden listening to the birds, gardening and reading.

Really not looking forward to going out.

I must admit I don't like having to go out for shopping, dont mind when I'm out walking because I can make my own distance, but in shops you cant avoid the zombies who just dont get it
Apparently so. From what ive heard it is very tense and strange.Getting on for 11 weeks indoors now. We have started getting shopping delivered and I think its fantastic.

I'll stay here until i have to go out and even then only go to places when they are quiet.

In general it's not too bad Holgate, but the social distancing dimwits do stand out as well as standing in your personal space. The ones to watch are the hidden coughers though. Nowt worse than hearing a hack in the distance and then trying to locate the source, particularly if they're in another aisle in the supermarket.

Holgatewall, I love those moments, love the garden, the birds singing, the sun shining
Everything feels so peaceful & well in the world

Just out of interest guys .

How are you paying for things now. Are you using cash or contactless?

I think I'll probably go along the contactless route when i go out whenever possible.

I got £10 out of the bank on the 17th March, I think I needed cash for a takeaway. It's still in my wallet. Contactless all the way, and it helps that the limit has been upped from £30 to £45

I'm contactless - preference being using my phone / Google Pay, then I don't touch anything presented to me that isn't mine

I have not spent a penny (in the physical financial sense) since before Christmas - cash is frowned upon at the moment (cue the Icke believers)

Yes I'm moving towards google pay.
While we have been getting groceries etc delivered we hsve set up direct debits.
