Well done Michael Carrick

I think he was rightly criticised previously but deserves his praise today. Finally got McGree and Jones in the side, they're probably not what we imagined we'd have on the flanks this season but they're comfortably the best we have right now.

I don’t think any manager is above criticism and when things go wrong or don’t exactly go to plan then there’s going to be negativity. What we tend to forget is that this is MCs first real season where he’s had to make more decisions which he probably didn’t want to make. Nonetheless he’s dug in and carved out a performance today which no one really expected.Maybe some light at the end of the tunnel tonight with a great team performance.

I'm sure that he'd admit he's not been at his best and has been struggling to get a performance out of the squad.
Having said that though, today we looked a lot like we did last year and if that is down to Carrick's belief in the system then fair play. I for one was doubting that we had the personnel, but he's gone a long way to finding the right blend today and I hope we kick on now.

I know Southampton haven't been great themselves but on paper they're a very good side for this level. Hopefully a big confidence boost for everyone.

There's a lot to like about MC, as long as we're in no danger of going down I'm happy to give him this season as a learning experience because I do believe he'll become a very good manager.

I just caught his comments on BBC Tees. He was spot on in his assessment. It’s not the first time he has mentioned the squad and coaches being together despite the results.

That is the big difference between this season’s difficult start and last. Wilder took no responsibility and constantly blamed others. It’s been clear with Carrick and everyone is still working together.

Nobody I’ve ever wanted to succeed here more than Michael carrick. Probably been blindly positive regarding him but just like him more than. Any manager we have had here for years. Let’s hope this is a turning point. I wish we had another home game Watford away is tough game against a parachute payment today was brilliant a team with much more talent than ours were battered. Jones looked like he did early days under wilder. Praying we kick on now because I want carrick to succeed here.

I’m surprised that the likes of Peters, Aribo etc have stayed at the club given the clean ship policy in the summer. They definitely have some outstanding attacking players maybe too many to choose from and therein lies the problem for Martin.

yep he finally started with Mcgree and Jones and had a decent LB. Well done for finally accepting the obvious

Obvious to you but I’ve heard plenty criticising Jones, McGree, Coburn and RVDB. Before the game everyone was kicking off about O’Brian being left back etc.

Give him some credit man
