Well done max - f1 world champion

You mean apart from Horner asking why there were five cars in front of Verstappen and making demands to let them race.
And saying "all you need is one lap" to the race director.
I've called zorro a hypocrite many times on this thread. But he keeps proving me correct

I’m pointing out it’s not as one sided as you lot are making out. Max was robbed this season as well in fact some of his punishments were mystifying but nope it’s all about poor Mercedes.

btw yesterday decision had NOTHING TO DO WITH RED BULL.

unlike Mercedes that openly called for the sporting director not to deploy a safety car.
Christian Horner stated clearly on live TV that he was “screaming” at Masi to restart the race.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the rules you give back the place you gained and not let the other driver catch you up a bit.

Big difference between being ahead in clean air than behind a bit less in dirty air.
He was ahead into the corner, therefor the advantage gained was time, therefore he had to concede time

Only if you leave the track and gain a lasting advantage. I think the stewards also decided that leaving the track was his only means of avoiding a crash which would have occurred if he'd tried to stay on the track.

A lot is made of max staying within the track making a legal move. There’s no point hitting the apex late if you can’t get your car round it. The move may be technically legal but he is supposed to leave a cars space for Hamilton to operate on. He didn’t

Max has assured himself of a Mercedes seat 2023 at the latest -. assuming of that Mercedes stay in F1. Some big hitters will be following Honda out of the door in the next couple of years.

Yeah from what I have read today you get the impression if it does go to court the FIA dont really have much of a case. Blatantly obvious even for the casual fan that the rules werent followed.

Completely pointless now anyway, a decision in 3 months in a court takes away any emotion from it, and thats the only reason any of us watch sport. Doubt Hamilton or even the team would want to win like that
Lewis wouldn't want it like that but Mercedes wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

I hope so. Its become a travesty of a sport. If only ferrari would quit to concentrate on their 2023 hypercar. Then if merc and their engines leave it'll be red bull v Renault. A farce and much deserved after the manipulation of results this week.

Just out of interest Zorro, do you think the call to let the 5 cars through was legitimate and within the rules of the sport and if it is within the rules is there an example of it having been implemented before?
He probably won't answer that because the answer won't fit his world view.

That type of scenario has never been implemented before no. I belive I'm right in saying the race director can decide to do that on safety grounds. I.e. if some lapped cars pose a bigger crash threat and need to be moved out of the way.

However. What is set in stone, what is a rule that Masi himself said last year "his hands were tied" over is that once cars have unlapped themselves the safety will come in on the NEXT lap. Not the same lap. That's the rule that was broken in the name of cheap entertainment

....."with his views on society."
What might they be then?
He believes in equality and fairness for people regardless of race, gender or sexuality. He's created a foundation to promote this and actively promotes it in countries like Saudi where equality is an alien concept.

Interesting that @HiredGun123 doesn't like someone for holding those views. Not a good look for him really

I truly hate F1, and p!ssed myself at the whacky races type final lap. Sums the whole sport up (edit, it is not a sport, but just a shambolic over hyped and chronic waste of money and space).

You'd think at the very least there'll be some sort of internal inquiry happening over this (whether official or unofficial). Can't imagine any team like the thought of the race director being able to wield that sort of power without (seemingly) any consequences.

As has been discussed, Hamilton not the only driver disadvantaged and if it'd had been any other race in the season, other teams/drivers would've been kicking off too. You can't justify applying different rules just because it's the last race or because a world title was on the line.

If Red Bull are honest with themselves, they can't be truly at ease with it either surely?

I honestly don't think red bull care. They don't seem the types to worry about rules or decency. I agree there surely must be an internal investigation here? It must have damaged the sport? And yeah that's the point we need to repeat: it's not just Hamilton. Much minor but no less unsporting was the fact Sainz didn't benefit for the same chance to win as Verstappen. Or Ricciardo and Stroll who should have been competing for the final point of the season but got trapped behind the front two as everyone else was allowed past.

I think they have to go on a case by case basis. If Latifi had crashed the corner before, for example, he would have been well off the track and close to an escape raids, so the danger could have been cleared quicker and the cars could have untapped themselves legally and the race could have resumed. As it was he was in an awkward place and on fire so it took a while to clear.

I think it would encourage foul play too. Teams have already been caught engineering a safety car: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Formula_One_crash_controversy
Wasn't the brother of Verstappen's girlfriend banned for doing this?

“Believes”

His hypocritical stances lead me to think he doesn’t.
