Smoggies on tour, makes you proud we are leading the way in something right & important to us all

"Having already won headlines as an official Tree City of the World as a result to its commitment to planting trees across the town, Middlesbrough is also on target to be one of the first councils and places to become carbon-neutral"

Just a shame that most of the town centre and its immediate surroundings looks like an absolute shiithole.

Where's the Ben Houchen money for Middlesbrough?

And I don't mean Hartlepool or Redcar or Stockton or Darlington.

Never realised it myself either, we should pat Andy Preston & ourselves on the back, some great news of our area & on here, instead of the slagging off thats going on
Indeed Erimus74

Moving back to the area next year so it`s good to hear good news filtering through for the future

The Boro has never been pretty town. Pollution is definitely less than in the 1970s in the centre and within 2 miles of the centre. Middlehaven was still industrial then and now there is a bit of greenery.

If you go up to Ormesby Bank on a clear day and look over to Hartlepool and Billingham, you can seen for many miles, in say 1970 that was not possible, in fact it was rare to be able to see the Transporter.

I'm not sure what it will take for people to see through Andy Preston.

The article was written by Dave Allan (yes that one).

Tees Business is published by Resolution Media and Publishing Limited.

Dave Allan is a director of Resolution Media and Publishing Limited.

Dave Allan is also owner and director of DNA PR & Publicity Limited.

Dave Allan describes himself as 'advisor to Mayor Andy Preston'.

Andy Preston pays Dave Allan to write nice stories about him.

Although I agree we had a lot more pollution back in the 70's, I do think you are exaggerating regarding not being able to see the Transporter from Ormesby Bank - unless the weather was poor. I grew up in the Eston Grange area and spent many a weekend up Eston Hills and playing on the defunct brick workers which are now Flatts Lane Country Park. We use to sit up the top of the Ormesby side of the hills or at the Nab and look at the wonders and contrasting views in front of us. To the back of us, we had the Cleveland Hills and in front, the industrial landscape of Teesside stretching from Newport Bridge to Redcar. Yes, you can see further now but we could always see well past Middlesbrough.

I wish St Peter's had offered an O Level on the Eston Hills, it would have been the only one I passed. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Funnily enough, I was up there yesterday with the dog. :)

As mentioned before he is a property grifter. He has interests in dozens of development sites across Teesside and he will use his influence as mayor to get them built on asap then disappear into the sunset with the cash back to his palace. His very demeanour shouts out 'spiv'.

I'm roughly the same age as you Norman and agree with everything you have said there.
As for an 'O' Level on Eston Hills, going to the 'Sweats' it would have been the only one any of us would have passed

Travelling south over the A19 flyover and looking over towards Boro I'm amazed at the amount of greenery there is over the area, especially on a bright summers day.
