Well Covid finally got me

I was at York races yesterday in a box so it was relatively safe. We got the bus back into town afterwards and it was outrageous. Completely rammed, less than half wearing masks and the unmasked half of the bus banging on windows screaming footy songs. Astonished my test this morning came back negative.
It might be too soon. Keep testing yourself.

Definitely keep testing if you want to be sure. My symptoms were 5x worse than they are now on Wednesday and I tested negative.

I tested positive last Sunday.

Edit - my 2 previous lateral flow on the Friday and Saturday were negative.

Had a developed a cough a couple of days after watching the Germany game in the Dickens. I didn’t go out last Saturday as I had started to feel unwell. Thankfully.
Monday onwards was hell. I had headache, coughing, bunged up, diarrhoea, aching all over and 5 days of sleeping.
Only just starting to walk downstairs now. Supposed to be free of isolation Monday but I can’t see me wanting to go out.
I had swine flu in 2010. It was worse but only lasted a few days. This has been awful. My wife has had to keep away as she is classed as vulnerable so the anxiety that has caused is also a factor in your recovery.
I am 47, 2 jabs in had been extra careful all through the pandemic. Gutted to have finally succumb to it.
It’s not gone anywhere and it’s really not pleasant.
May advice is still try to avoid it heard immunity is a gamble for older people.

Forced herd immunity by any other name. Relaxing restrictions to the point where they'll encourage the spread, tweaking the app to lessen the impact on businesses, falling vaccine take-up meaning that there'll be plenty of ripe infection targets too.
The caring Tory mask was abandoned long before July 19th it would seem

What I was thinking. I chose not to say it explicitly.

And thankfully I'm feeling OK. Double jab seems to be doing the job but I did feel bloody awful earlier this week.
My post is not for any sort of sympathy but more of a warning how easy it is to pick this awful bloody virus up. As a family we have done everything to the rule book. As I was double jabbed I thought it would be OK to partake in a beer or two for the Ukraine game last Saturday, my first night out for several months. Had a cracking night but the club was packed and with the beer flowing and the goals going in we celebrated in the usual way.
Two days later, wallop, it hit me. Tested positive and now half way through the self isolation.
Speaking from experience now I'm not so sure the shackles should be completely taken off. Something just doesn't add up.
Is it herd immunity or bust?

Hope you're feeling better asap mate
Had it myself, and it's not nice

Edit
Hope the others who've posted further down that have it are better asap too

I don’t want to belittle anyone, I’ve had family that caught covid and I know it’s nasty. But if you’ve been jabbed and arw otherwise healthy it’s not going to kill you.

I’ve had vestibular neurosis since the beginning of May. It’s completely floored me and it’s ruined any chance of me having a normal life, and thanks to covid I can’t get anywhere near a doctors surgery for any type of care. Four weeks ago I Got told over the phone I had hay fever by a GP who could barely speak English. Have had to resort to paying to see a private GP and ENT consultant in order to feel well. And the answer is physiotherapy so that’s even more money I’ve got to Shell out.

I’m no anti-Vaxxer or conspiracy theorist but this ridiculous focus we have on covid needs to end. Sorry.

please don’t shout at me - I’m ill.

make sure you claim your £500 those of you who are forced to self isolate for 10 days. got mine eventually, my partner tested positive two weeks on Tuesday and hasnt felt herself since suffering with headaches, aches and pains she was bed bound for 3-4 days and now still feels tired all the time. I survived a house with 3 people who tested positive thankfully

Turning down the App notifications will be no defence against the hordes who become ill and cannot work anyway based on the above and some of the folk I know from the North West.

Another complete shambles by this government paying lip service to the science whilst opening the floodgates to its spread, the results could be quite catastrophic as the impact of the Johnson variant comes home.

Can I claim my £420 back (£120 for GP, £300 for a specialist) that I’ve shelled out for private healthcare because I can’t see an NHS GP?

no, thought not.

You could just wish the lad well and leave it at that. Yes the risk is significantly reduced but it can still leave you pretty Ill if you catch it, looking at the amount still requiring hospital treatment is surely testament to that

Consider yourself ignored. I’m ill but not with covid and can’t get treated on the NHS. And I’ve had a horrible anxious battle to get what little treatment I have off them. FFS. Sorry it doesn’t suit your narrative. Don’t bother replying - I won’t read it.

The hidden cost of covid aet which many posters marginalise.
Or indeed don't care about because it isn't on a daily spreadsheet or TV headline.

Wishing you nothing but the best of health soon @Aet290204 keep your head up mate.

Those with the covid after been jabbed twice, same to you.
