We require 11 wins out of 14 for playoffs

I thought our were less than 20% after Sunderland tbh ..
I'm fascinated to see what happens between now and the end of the season.
It looks like a strict 4 2 3 1 formation will need to be adapted at times, which might suit some players like barlaser Silvera Azaz O'Brien ELL etc.

Hopefully just less schizoid in results, and more disciplined in collective defensive responsibility.

It's still to be seen whether Villa's gamble pays off. Two league goals in half a season is one of the reasons we are where we are.
He was the assist master, he did move too early for his career though, it’ll be a step backwards before a step forwards again

69 was particularly low. 75 is about par for getting into the play offs

2016/17 80 points got you 6th .. that got you runners up spot some seasons wow!

Yet in 2014/15 78 points wasnt enough for a top 6 finish

Just done the league predictor in Gazette... used my head not my heart... we will finish 9th, even if I got two games wrong and we win them, we will still finish 9th on 71 pts.... we have to many teams in front of us, with better form.... West Brom, Norwich, Coventry & Hull City.

I am 100% certain that 4 teams won't get to 97 points, 7 teams won't get to 80 points, nor will there be a 13 point gap from 8th to 9th.

It looks like you've decided the top 8 will win pretty much every game against any team outside the top 8, which simply won't be the case. This is after all the Championship.

Ya prob right, but we still wont make the top 6

Third place is currently 12 points better off than last season, 4th is 8 better off than last season's third (which was us at this time).

The top few have streaked ahead whereas only two teams did last year.

We ain’t winning s**t - we have no strikers and can’t keep clean sheets. Very big overhaul needed come the summer

I think there is a possibility that the top 4 continue their form and get to those totals. They are all very good this season, particularly the 3 relegated teams. I don't think the other playoff teams will get anywhere near those other totals though.

Edit: I meant they could get to 90+ but I think 97 is definitely too high for 4th.

We had a relatively easy run of fixtures from boxing day up until the Preston game. We should have cemented our place in the play offs with those games.

1pt outta 6 against Rotherham, 1pt against the Mackems when 1-0 up with 10 mins to play, nothing from an awful Preston Team, surrendered against Bristol City. All of them very winnable fixtures. 1 Point out of a very attainable15 there.

The fact we didn't gives me little hope we can go on any kind of run now.

It's highly unlikely now but just have to focus on winning the next game. If we do then it's on to the next game and trying to win that too and so on. As soon as we don't win a game it'll go from highly unlikely to virtually impossible and then to mathematically impossible. It will probably mean we will have to win at Hull and beat at least 3 and draw 1 of Norwich, Ipswich, Leeds, Southampton and Watford and hardly drop any points to any of the other sides we play. That's such a tall order with a full strength squad never mind with the injuries we have. I won't absolutely give up until it cant be done but I can't see it happening now.
We aren't only chasing hull though. There are several teams between us and hull who we also need to falter. If we were 7th chasing 6th it would be slightly more doable.

It is quite unlikely we grab one of the playoff slots but it isn't impossible. Carrick and the lads will do what they can.

Lath is back either this weekend or next, which will be a boost. Carrick says that Jones is another week or so away, so he will be back for the run-in.

It is do-able, but as I said, unlikely. We need to do something we have only managed once this season and go on a run of wins.

At this stage I think you forget the other teams (as there too many in front of us) and look at a points total that would likely get you into 6th. 75 points gets you in most of the time. 70 gets you in sometimes but rarely. With the amount of teams in the hunt and the fact the top 4 are all but secured, I think 75 will be required.

To get there we need 31 points from 14 matches or 2.2 PPG. To put that into perspective, Southampton, Leeds and Ipswich have Al achieved less than this this season. Only Leicester have bettered it.

To ge to 75 points:

Hull need to achieve 1.61 PPG.
Coventry need to achieve 1.85 PPG

There's next to no chance we get promoted. We need at least 10 wins from out last 14 matches to put ourselves in the mix.

It was a tough ask even 5 matches ago (before the Rotherham match) when we needed 1.9 PPG. It's totally out of reach now.
