We require 11 wins out of 14 for playoffs

Far too many silly points dropped when we have dominated teams but not been able to kill them off, no chance of the play offs but let's get behind the team to have a strong finish to the season.
C'mon Boro

I said something similar the other day, the Leicester game was similar to the Chelsea first leg, on another day they dont miss that many chances and we end up drawing of even losing.

Regardless though it got an important 3 points on the board.
Leicester will be as baffled at how they have dropped 6 points to us as we are at dropping 4 points to Rotherham.
Very strange matches. They probably missed 8-10 good chances across the two games yet everything we hit went in.

We'd have been better placed if we'd lost to Leicester on Saturday and beat Rotherham twice.

We'd need to go on another 6 game+ winning streak just to get ourselves back in proper contention, and we've struggled to string 2 wins together for most of the season.

Leicester did a Boro and missed sitter after sitter in a game that they should have won on paper, their finishing let them down badly, we didn't play them off the park, we put in a decent backs to the wall away performance with a couple of counter attacks.

We're not going to be able to play that way against most teams.
dreams are made of buts and ifs .....

we would but that's a silly argument, of course winning two games would be better than winning one. Surely the comparison is beating rotherham twice or beating leicester twice.

Anyway, we are where we are, there are a number of 6 pointers that we must win really to have an outside chance of play offs, Norwich (8th), Hull (6th), Watford (11th). But realistically, we need Coventry, Preston, Sunderland and Bristol to all have a slump while we hit form and catch them. It could be mathematically over with 4 or 5 left to play to be honest. We are currently still fighting for a chance to be an outsider for play offs, we're not even in the discussion at 10 points behind.

For me play off hopes realistically died with Sunderland's spawny equaliser, but the hope's always there to 'kill you' until it's mathematically impossible!

Looking at the fixtures this should do it

H Plymouth Win
A Stoke Win
H Norwich Win
A QPR Win
A Birmingham Win
H Blackburn Win
A Southampton Lose
H Sheffield Wed Win
H Swansea Win
A Hull Win
A Ipswich Lose
H Leeds Lose
A Cardiff Win
H Watford Win
That reminds me of the thread in January where everyone had us getting 13 or 15 points out of the next 15 points.
Not saying we couldn't do it, but it will be interesting to see how we respond to less glamorous fixtures like Plymouth at home, those will be the matches that tell us if we have it in us to push for a playoff spot.

By my calculations based on just 3 fixtures in isolation.we win our game in hand , we beat hull away, hull lose another game and we win vs plymouth
We would only be 1point behind them in theory. We do need a good run of wins from the remaining fixtures. But i do think we should target hull and better their results if the above scenario happened to be in with a small chance.

It's highly unlikely now but just have to focus on winning the next game. If we do then it's on to the next game and trying to win that too and so on. As soon as we don't win a game it'll go from highly unlikely to virtually impossible and then to mathematically impossible. It will probably mean we will have to win at Hull and beat at least 3 and draw 1 of Norwich, Ipswich, Leeds, Southampton and Watford and hardly drop any points to any of the other sides we play. That's such a tall order with a full strength squad never mind with the injuries we have. I won't absolutely give up until it cant be done but I can't see it happening now.

We're 6/1 on Bet365 for top 6 which I think is dreadful value. If we win our next 6 we're still 2 points outside the playoffs if all teams maintain their season ppg but you would expect a mix of some teams improving theirs and others not. We need to win 8 in a row to be above Hull if they maintain their 1.64ppg. That would be 9 in a row for us. It's never going to happen.

Think I'd want about 20/1 for us to make the top 6 at this point.

Even that is a poor price. There's definitely less than a 5% chance of us making it from here. 6/1 is mental.

I said I thought Hull were good value at 5/2 a couple of weeks ago. Their price has almost halved to 6/4 now.

the best thing to do is go on an amazing run, get to the play-off final, win it and then decide that it's better to stay in champo than getting stuffed every week like Burnley and SU. What I mean is we are not ready for the PL.

It doesn’t look totally impossible.. after Norwich we should be on the way up.. hopefully we’ve got enough on the table to make a last ditch effort!

We’ll always have a core of players..

After the Sunderland game there was a few of us stating play offs definitely not happening. We got pellets off a few people. Since then, we’ve lost to Bristol and Preston. Those games definitely killed it off despite the unexpected win at Leicester.

If you look at the history of 6th place mostly teams don’t get there with more than 14 defeats. Boro are on 14 now so really need an unbeaten finish to the season. The win at Leicester was a great start but I’m not convinced we’ll even beat Plymouth Saturday.

Some of us have been saying it since before the season even started.

There's some big fixtures coming up for the sides favourite for 6th spot. Tough games and 6 pointers. The problem is we've lost more games than we've won, and the injury problems are still with us, suggesting that isn't going to change any time soon.

There are no prizes for being the first person to make a prediction 😂 otherwise I’d have a massive trophy for supporting Roger’s against the vilification
