We must keep Akpom at all costs

Akpoms was something like a goal ever 103 minutes, archer didn’t come close to that I don’t believe.
 
I don’t see the problem with keeping him for the last year of his contract, it’s a gamble, but that’s football! If he plays like last season there’s an even chance we go up and the money we could have got for him will be irrelevant. If we don’t go up and he has a poor season maybe he stays anyway on a contract similar to what he’s on now!

I don't know sexpom. I would still take archer to score more next season of he were in our team. Of course there is no garuanttee that Akpom repeats last sessions accoutrements.

Akpom was 118 per goal and archer was 141 and I think that includes the play offs.

Obvious to you maybe.

I really hope he stays, I loved watching him play and he seems like a great lad, but the harsh reality is that we operate within a tight budget, as do all clubs.

If he leaves it won't be for a 'set of tracksuits', that's a daft statement.

I get why the club will want to cash in now, rather than him leave for nothing next year. He will no doubt fetch around £10m would be my guess - keeping him for a season would be akin to paying a loan fee of that amount for a player, when there's no guarantees he will be equally successful, or injury free.

The ideal scenario is that he signs a new contract, but I think that's unlikely at the moment.

Most likely not on one player, but it's a large investment that could be spread across a number of positions.

That's the model, buy low sell high, not allow to leave for nothing.

We all want him to stay, of course we do, everyone loves a goalscorer and it's a long time since we've had such a prolific one, but I can see the harsh practicalities of the situation too.
