We had a lucky run in spite of Southgate in the last world cup too. Here's hoping we go on another lucky run and win this thing in spite of Southgate eh?

Yeah we did have a lucky run. We played Colombia won on pens. Then Sweden. Then Croatia and lost. So yeah.
I hope for that too but even if we best Senegal we will probably play France in the quarters and doesn't bode well. But all my opinion.

As for my thoughts on the game, I felt really frustrated during the first half. Felt we were playing into Wales' hands by having so much of the ball but not creating enough, and felt we'd be punished for it late into the game with the inevitable sucker punch.

In hindsight I was probably just panicking though. We controlled the game and once we got the goal we were always going to score a few more. Wales couldn't live with our pressing and counter-pressing.

Reading back over this thread. Surprised at the comments at Half time. I thought Rashford was one of the better brighter players first half so when I read calls for his substitution all I can say is glad GS didn’t hear them.

Thought rashford was poor first half (along with Henderson), gave the ball away and poor composure when he got in the box.

Obviously improved switching sides second half, have to say questions should be asked about Danny Ward though, free kick shouldn’t have been out or reach from where he set the wall up and the third goal went right through him.
