Visiting Brighton

Spending M-Th next week in Brighton anyone got any places of interest to visit or recommend any decent pubs?

Cheers in advance.

There will be better Brighton experts than me, but you could have a wander around The Lanes (I expect you were going to). Cafes and bars amongst the shops.

The Royal Pavillion was interesting when I went there. Recommend a visit, if it's open.

If you have a car, you could drive along the coast road to Shoreham airfield (Brighton City Airport). It has an nice Art Deco airport building, with a cafe/restaurant that's a pleasant place for a little trip out.

If you want an all over tan, Brighton used to have a pebbly nudist beach!

The laines are nice. Mixture of pubs and little indie shops, great atmosphere.
The pavilion is good. Take a tour, see how the other half lived!

The Palace pier is cheesy as anything but great to grab some fish and chips (avoid the Harry Ramsdens which is poor)

Night life is decent, I always used to go out in North Laine.

Avoid the beach. In the words of Huey Morgan: "beach? Its just a bunch of f**King rocks"

There is a brilliant little Italian place in the square by the Pavillion/fairground called VIP (very Italian pizza). Highly recommended

If you're into vinyl Resident Records is a must.

Pub-wise I've always enjoyed The Evening Star, dark star taproom just down from the station. There's probably loads more now though, been ages since I visited.

I went to a few places last year. The alley, night club, Madeira Drive etc. The hotel where Jimmy steals the Vespa was all covered in scaffolding so couldn't get the photo I wanted
There used to be an official walking tour that you could book on line. Apparently you met up with a tour guide on the sea front who would take you and the rest of the group to the various film locations with afew stories thrown in no doubt. Probably stopped during Covid (n)

The alley where they have the “Knee trembler” in Quadrophenia is on East St opposite Tony & Guy just past the gun shop. It’s relatively small so yo will have explored it in a few days. As already said plenty of pubs/bars/restaurants around the lanes a couple of quaint pubs behind and around Churchill square. Also New Road and Bond Street.
Donatello’s does great food and always busy with decent pubs close by. Needless to say “veggies” well catered for in Brighton. All these places are within a few minutes walk of each other so no problem.
Another shout out for Arundel or Lewes and if you’re going Lewes way you could give Pevensey Bay a try, there’s a Castle and I believe it’s where William the Conqueror came ashore.

Just have a walk around the lanes and surrounding areas and you won't go far wrong. The Hope and Ruin on the road down from the station to the sea front is pretty good for a stop off if coming in by train.

The Post house on Ship Street in the lanes is nice for a beer or a coffee and a bit of food around dinner time.

There's literally loads!

Great for everything! I've no idea how old you are or what you like but there's plenty of live music, comedy and theatre - I'm seeing the Avalanches on Thursday. The beach has miles of pubs, cafes, etc between the Marina to the east and Hove Lagoon to the west (no sand, mind - it's all pebbles). It's gone much more 'outdoor' since the advent of covid - Blair's long-awaited cafe culture has arrived! The Lanes and North Laine area have hundreds of independent shops plus there's Churchill Square/Western road for your standard city centre shopping

The pub on the front where they have music on. Great setting to sip a pint or two and listen to music. Avoid the food served up there - pretty poor stuff!!
