On the face of it is good business I think most Boro fans would say that. Obviously we don’t know the details.

Every transfer is a risk but it is on the face of it great work by the recruitment team. He might be a player City and Liverpool covet in a years time but he may become a forgotten man.

He has done well but he hasn’t been outstanding. If he goes hopefully he will be happy and does really well at Villa, closer to his family, friends and more money. The deal looks good for all parties.

He’s only been here 6 months but I think many of us were saying he’d be better off being loaned out rather than starting lol 😆

As I said I honestly think Cole palmer has heavily influenced them.

I thought he played really well in a 3 against villa and chelsea but in a 2 at home to coventry and chelsea away he was very poor hes not quick enough its nothong to do with hatred. We need to get vdb and fry back as the two centrebacks thomas and ayling as fullbacks and thats a very very good back 4.

Again, I think that's a completely unrealistic comparison. Palmer was good enough to make over 40 appearances for MCs first team. Rogers didn't make one; I don't know if he ever even made the bench. Each player from an academy is an individual: it's as flawed to judge them by where they've come from as it is to judge a player by his nationality.

I also think the word "potentially" has been used too much. He could potentially be worth a lot more, or he could potentially be worth a lot less too. He's had a good run of form, but that doesn't mean he will continue in that style. It's not so long ago posters on here were saying he's rubbish. Heck, he could be injured for a year before the end of this season. Potentially cuts both ways.

He's scored 4 goals in 60 championship appearances. Bowen, by comparison, had scored 53 in roughly double the number if games, and done it consistently over 3 seasons. Rogers probably is worth about half what Bowen was, allowing for inflation

I’m not comparing I’m saying that Man City kids can be untapped gems and even at 15mil that’s a punt for villa that could pay off.

It’s chicken feed in the prem.
 
I don't think Cole Palmer really has any bearing on this tbh. Palmer was starting to feature for the Man City first team and performing well for them, that's why that move happened, Rogers was nowhere near getting that chance. Rogers is closer to a Hardwood-Bellis or someone like that. City have loads of players like that if it was just a case of clubs looking to go after their young players as a reaction to Palmer.

The club appear to be managed in a way that we are likely to continue to make progress.

Man City are in a totally different position to us apparently they told Palmer they wanted to sell him not loan him out.

If Villa can see he is an amazing prospect they should have signed him instead of us six months ago.

There are a lot of unknowns as well that we will have little or no knowledge of which will all fit into the equation that will determine our stance.

If he goes I think most Boro fans will wish him well. The club really is in the best position it has for years. Hopefully the manager is in talks to extend his contract for me he really has been a breath of fresh air.
 
It’s pointless just comparing one player to another whilst trying to come up with a fair price. There are so many different factors to consider, saying X is as good as Y will be one of the last ones.
 
I’ll be happy if he stays or goes at that price. If he stays I think he’ll get better with more experience. If he goes it’s a good profit and good for the FFP position. The club will have a list of potential replacements both directly and where they feel upgrades are needed elsewhere in the team. The one thing we can be sure of is that any money we do get will be spent in the summer if not in this window.
 
Mind boggling that people are saying £15 mil for Morgan Rogers after 6 months of being decent, nothing special at all (my opinion), is bad business.

Cole Palmer! Christ. Knew we should have signed Alex Nimely... ;)

I’m Not saying it’s bad business I’m saying it is now about right but 4-6 that some thought was wonderful was taking the mick.

Hasn't played many minutes, but Newport have an 18 year old LW called Kiban Rai who'll be playing in the championship in 2-3 years time. You heard it here first haha.
