Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

I am surprised at the debate on here about this.
The lad cant get a game for us mid-table in the Champo. Jesus, if ever there was a chance for a forward to make his mark then it was with us, this season, given the fact that almost every striker we have has been laid up with injury.

If villa offer a decent fee then its an easy decision, isnt it?

Apart from him not being a striker , nor ever will be , your on the money 😁

Think we are getting a
bit carried away.If a bid has come in it won't be more than 5 million.Villa are under Financial Fare Play scrutiny.
Villa will see it as a cheap punt.
Villa will know we paid £1.7m for Rogers and that City have a 20% sell on clause. They will be fully aware that £10m is nearer the figure.

If they have offered £5m, it will only be to put a marker down (why start your offer at the top end?)

He gets a game for us all the time, what are you on about? He's started 18 games so far.

Some really staggering views on Rogers on here. Genuinely shocked at some of the comments!!

You could see within ten minutes of the lad stepping onto the pitch he was technically superb.

Yes he's raw, and has some ups and downs, but his potential is high.

That touch and lay off for the goal last week was beautiful. Technically superb. He has great feet, quick feet too, can beat a man, a football brain, vision. Will only improve.

Have to take bids over 10 m seriously 😂🤦

In today's market!!?!? You must be kidding. It's not just attributes you can coach like a holding midfielder spraying it side to side. It's creativity and vision And that costs.

English, young, genuinely talented footballer. Reminds me of Dele Ali when he was fresh on the scene.

It genuinely doesn't matter if the end product is not consistent yet, he has all the attributes and has shown in moments, certain games, runs of games that he is a game changer, that he has creative ability.

The hardest things to coach. The consistency comes with game time, development and age.

We shouldn't be considering anything under 20m in my opinion. Because IF he becomes consistent he's worth much more than that in 3-5 years time.

We took the chance on him. We are developing him and giving him an opportunity to make mistakes and improve.

We should then get the significant benefits of that.

Not a pathetic 5-10 profit 5 months later.

Thankfully the club have the same idea I hope with the rejected bid. Even in a years time if he continues how he's going now it's going to be 20m plus if they want him.

If they get offered that now fair enough there's a decision to make.

But not for ten million with a long contract where we can develop him another year and raise that value more without being pressured by a contract expiring.

Superb post.

Nup. 5 Million tops and we get a 20% sell on fee.
Obviously I don't know but can't see us getting a big wedge upfront.
He'll now want to go, Villa can't spend money now.
I can see a compromise.

The model is, we’ve signed a load of interesting and quite good players with potential for £1.5m-ish.

If one catches the eye of a Premier League team you can sell him for £8-£10m and buy 5 more.

I’ve been extremely vocal about our horrible recruitment for years but there’s been a big shift this season in my eyes. Far more hits than misses when you judge them after 3 months rather than 3 minutes and you can really see the potential in most of the guys we brought in, they’ve adapted great.

In Rogers’ case I’d sell him if the fee is right. That’s the model and our financial reality. Hackney and RVDB I’d move heaven and earth to keep.
