Apkom is what has changed since. Goals are not an issue at present. Wsa sunday the first time we havent scored under Carrick?
Akpom would still be here imo.. why not have the best squad available to you?

Steffen/Roberts

Smith/Dijksteel
Fry/Lenihan
Van Hecke/McNair/Clarke
Giles/Bola

Hackney/Crooks
Barlaser/Howson
Jashari/Mowett

Forss/Jones
Akpom/Archer/Watmore
Gyokores/McGree

Not THAT much of a tweek to upgrade the squad massively imo.

Regardless of cost 👍🏻
The money was there in the summer.. the difference is we’re not pushing it away on Wilder Follies. We were ready to give Akpom away and not even consider Hackney.. that hasn’t happened and now we have £18m worth of talent in the squad for nothing.

Spend the same as we would have in the summer and achieve a better outcome.

Good comparison with Rhodes, it does have a similar feeling to that season’s January transfer window with the type of players we’re being linked with. We signed a few that month as well.

Jordan Rhodes - Victor Gyökeres
Julian de Sart - Dan Barlaser
Gaston Ramirez - Cameron Archer
Ritchie de Laet - Jan Paul Van Hecke
Kike Sola - Daniel Nkrumah
Bruno Zucullini - Ardon Jashari

Very true, but Gyokeres is hugely more talented than Jutkiewicz.
It doesn't have to end the same way...
it’s not like for like.. but Rhodes was the Gyökeres of that era.

Sounds like a big window.. but two of the big ticket players here should have been done in the summer (at least two)

Archer is a change out for Muniz
Jashari is coming in on loan (hence my source saying a deal had been agreed for £1.5m)

Then you have a development striker that you wouldn’t bat an eyelid over normally.

Finally there’s a much needed defender that we need on a number of fronts, cover, development, future.. not out of the way is it

Big stumbling block is that Gyokeres went to Coventry with a big sell-on clause.
Brighton aren't daft are they.
If it wasn't for this fact I reckon there's a good chance we'd have already signed him:(
Anyone know how big this clause is?

Say it's as high as 40%, you could see how Cov would be after £15m for themselves but this would mean a selling price of £21m

Clause

We don’t stand a chance with Gyokeres we simply can’t afford him
We can. The amortisation per season will not be difficult and we are not in FFP difficulties.
Whether they want to pursue him as another matter and Carrick would have to really want him, but the deal could be done.
