Velogames 2023 - Vuelta Now Open for Entries! 🇪🇸 🚴🏿‍♂️

I do hope Jumbo Visma get popped soon ((I mean they have, but one of the lead riders would be good). What we are seeing from them is pretty obscene. It makes Sky's tainted efforts look like childs play. Almost all TOB stages and then a ridiculaous 123 finish on the Tourmalet. I started watching again (after that obscene Vingo TT in the TDF) for the fun of being in this competition. I'm still going to be thereabouts, despite Remco's capitu;lation and Thomas' nightmare race ... thanks to Martinez and Uitdebroeks (and my sprinters). But I just can't enjoy watching such a travesty of sport as we have seen today. It stinks the place out.

Yes, well, previous cheaters in this sport have made any such amazing exploits rather difficult to accept on face value. Much like some of Vinegaards TDF performances. It's hard to accept.

Firstly, I hope you are wrong - but it is hard to accept what is going on.

If I could play devil’s advocate; Vinny, WVA, Remco, VDP, and Pog have all delivered superhuman achievements in their careers. Are saying they are all ‘at it’?
Rog has stuttered a bit over the last couple of years - doesn’t sound right if there is systematic doping?
Vinny wasn’t really that far ahead yesterday and he was cream crackered at the end.
And, we had 3 known very good climbers (prob the best in the race) in the top 3.

Apparently the peloton doesn’t appear to be ‘mumbling’ either - surely we aren’t back to the dark days of the omertà?

Kuss is in his third grand tour. Vingo is coming off the back of a TDF. It has been obvious to me for a while that they are using something. We should bear in mind that when Sky were dominating, they weren't doing it cleanly. Yes, they avoided sanction, but Wiggins had horse steroids, Froome got an adverse finding, plus, from his own doctor's writings, he was likely on Prednisolone to treat Bilharzia out of season. And then you've got mysterious packages going out to the team from a now banned doctor and missing laptops etc. Anyway, I've watched cycling for too long probably. And btw, given Pog's close connections, I think it's doubtful that he is entirely clean as well.

The JV press conferences are a bit of a laugh arenn’t they?
Rog - ‘he’s just got to keep believing’…… but I’m off to win a stage and ain’t stopping to help hiim
Vinny - I really hope Kuss wins’ answering a different question to the one he was asked.
Mind you, I think he could have beaten Rog today had he wanted to.

In fairness, I guess, it’s a competitive sport and all 3 want to win. No room for sentiment eh?

No doubt about it the JV team are on the jumbo juice or other assistance , as mentioned above Vingo of the back of a superhuman TDF, Kuss outrageous performance in his 3rd GT and Roglic has won the Giro which is 4 GTs in 4 consecutive years so he’s not doing to badly, it’s just literally unbelievable!
As for Remco all I can say is at least he has bad days which is totally normal over 21 days of racing.
Pretty sure one of the dirtiest teams ever team Gewiss done a 1,2,3 in the flèche Wallone 1994 and they were full of juice!!!!
In times of dominance questions are always asked and it suffocates the sport, been watching for a long time and it never appears to change but it’s still great!!
Good article from an ex pro regarding JV

I don't believe that there is mechanical doping. I presume from time to time that the race organisers take apart bikes to test for such things? If not, then they should.

I suspect that the unbelievable advantage comes from elsewhere.

I cant believe a major GC team would consider mechanical doping, you can always argue against traditional doping in that its isolated or because of contamination but you can hardly argue against a motor on your bike.It would be the end of the team.

When I was in Tenerife earlier this year I got talking to the owner of one of the bike shops. Jumbo were on the island at the time and staying at the hotel top of the volcano that Sky used. His opinion was that they used the hotel because they can do what they like up there.

If JV were really lucky Brailsford may have left a copy of his little black book there 😂

Well done Jandio - streets ahead of the rest of us.

Please don't forget the Tour of Scandinavia - I fluked my way into the top 10 overall in that. I've had the leaderboard printed off and hung above the mantlepiece and everything. :)
