VELOGAMES 2020 🚴🏻‍♂️🚴🏻🚴🏼‍♀️🇫🇷 Tour de France Is Back ( Although Its Called The Big Bike Race)

Primož Roglič, Tom Dumoulin, Steven Kruijswijk, Wout van Aert, Robert Gesink, Sepp Kuss, Tony Martin, and George Bennett.

That is some team for the TdF.
It's a crazy team. It might be Froome's saving grace. They might look at that and think well, we gotta take all the big guns.

I'm the same though, I wouldn't take him. He'll be lucky to get a place based on leaving at end of season and having no form. If he has a good Dauphine they'll have to take him I guess.

I'm in for the Dauphine.

Regarding Ineos, I'd like to see them beaten. It would be good for the sport. But they are very very good at getting the timing of peak form right. As for Froome, it's a miracle that he is even being considered. I don't like him much but he is certainly a hard b****d. He is one determined athlete.

One of the interesting things in L'Ain was that Lotto-Jumbo out Ineo'ed Ineos, be really interesting seeing whether they can replicate in the Dauphine and then the Tour.

What may also be interesting is whether the Dauphine actually completes given the current situation in France, which may then impact the TDF as well - I'm hoping not, and that I'll be able to be on the side of the mountain on stage 19.

Titbit for you. During the route of stage 1 the Critérium du Dauphiné pays tribute to Andrej Kivilev, the Kazach rider who lost his life in the 2003 edition of Paris-Nice. He crashed helmet-less, which was the trigger to make wearing helmets compulsory in the peloton. The Montée Andreï Kivilev climbs for 3.6 kilometres at 3.8%

Indeed, although at first a blind eye was turned to those riders who removed them for mountain top finishes, hence why in the mid-2000's you'll see people finishing stages without one whilst others have kept them on.

Got the Dauphine on Eurosport on my Ipad whilst I work, and I've just remembered one of the best things about lockdown and the subsequent cancellation of all cycling was that I didn't have to listen to Carlton bloody Kirby and his utter nonsense.

the question is though. Do you hate Froome or Kirby more?

I actually think we have had this exchange before. I really like Carlton Kirby and his style of commentary. Went to a great evening last year at a cycling cafe in Aldbury called the Musette where Carlton was a guest speaker. Really engaging fella.

I can see why some get irritated bu him but for me adds to the experience of watching cycle racing.

Oh Froome, without a doubt.

So much hate :p Kirby is an idiot, but a sublime idiot. Being able to talk utter garbage for hours on end is a real talent. Kirby bingo is fun on those long flat sprinter TDF stages.

Yeah I wouldn't say I hate Kirby, he's just annoying and as you say it's difficult to fill hours on end - especially on quiet stages.

That was another exciting stage to watch. Allaphillipe nowhere and Froome looked off the pace and disinterested.

Kwiatkowski did a great job for Bernal to bring him up to a podium finish.

Froome finished 5 minutes down on a stage that was hilly but not mountainous. Something clearly wrong.

He didn't look to be struggling, instead he was just riding at the back of the peloton chatting - wait until the big mountains and see whether he goes for stage wins later in the week.

Results in but before we touch on them a mention to fellow kiwi George Bennett 🇳🇿 who has just won Gran Piemonte for Lotto Jumbo Visma. LJV on absolute fire with Van Aert taking stage 1 of the CdD. First table and our winner of Poland Cardiffdaffs starting as he finished last time.
