Vaccine booked

Yes. I think I would. Despite my concerns about the speed of approval, in a few months we'll know more about the side effects and I think whatever it takes to get the vaccine, providing its safe, circulating should be done. If that includes private sales as well as state ones then so be it. Dependant on price of course and if its proven to be effective and safe.

Huge political problem if we make it available to those that will pay.
Would I do it?
Depends what the social benefit was - if we are all still holed up then I’d just wait my turn.

Reading in America that Amazon have applied for their staff to be ‘prioritised’.
I can understand it but - thin end of the wedge and all that.

Every private sale is a jab that is unavailable to poorer countries throughout the world. We can guess where distributers would focus if people were willing to pay over the odds.
I'd recommend providing the option for private purchasers to pay forward the cost of a vaccine to someone less fortunate through the COVAX commitment.

Price dependent, but I probably would. Unlike some across the country. I've pretty much stuck to the rules the whole time. And when the rules were relaxed in summer, ended up dropping out on perfectly safe activities with friends due to Covid related anxiety (even though I'm not at risk), so to be able to get rid of that and start living some form of social life, that doesn't involve Zoom meetings and conversations with my 1 year old, would be much welcomed.

Does anybody think the vaccines will eventually be rolled out privately, for public purchase, under the guise of increasing the capacity (of sites and staff to administer the vaccine) and getting to vaccine herd immunity sooner?
Ethically it’s very questionable.
If you had the option to pay for the jab in a couple of months time, would you do it?

For sure. This Government love to bosh things over to the private sector!

But I think it would help if they do - for example if you want to go on holiday abroad, it would be good if you can go and get a dose.

I'd pay a couple of hundred quid to get vaccinated if they did it privately for sure.

I think the 2 doses of the Pfizer jab costs about £25? So a private company would be adding a fair bit on top for staffing costs and profit , so maybe it would cost £75? How about we pay £100, thus paying for an extra dose to be sent to a poor country? or even an extra £50 to send 2?

I'd be happy with that.

It'll be 2024 before some of the poorer countries get the vaccine. Mainly due to manufacturing lead time.

Yes, there’s no reason they shouldn’t ask people in their 30s and 40s with no underlying health conditions to pay for it. Same with flu jab innit.

75 quid for a 25 quid jab. I am in the wrong game!

That's a good idea. Therefore unlikely to be taken up by the government
