It's a football club logo, not a coat of arms!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the current badge, people need to stop living in the past and over thinking it!

For the record, I thought there was nothing wrong the 86 badge too!

The date on it was something very wrong.

Baffling decision to every use it.

96% of Boro fans want to change the badge. When that was Leeds or Everton in recent years, the owners changed the badge a few days later.

It’s no coincidence that all the big boys are reverting to the older badges.
I have no problem with more modern badges, they just to have be descent with relevance to the club. The present one is an attempt at on old style coat of arms and its overall impression is poor, some one got paid to do that and even worse it got accepted. As much as I like Gibbo I have a feeling as he he gets older he going to run more and more the club as his personal fiefdom with less and less input from other sources than his trusted ones.

....and that would be my argument for looking at what makes Teesside - Teesside and representing that on a badge.
Our USP is the Transporter (Newport Bridge) and we've built bridges or supplied the Steel all over the world. On a local level, a link between Yorkshire and Durham...TEESSIDE - Which is what we are. It's symbolic.

Maybe its a subliminal wish to return to a time when Football was in its glory and not the finance abomination that it is today.

i think the opposite is true.. we seem to be going back to the things that work the best. We’re in a much better position than we have been since the early Karanka years.. and we’re moving in the right direction.

We ARE Teesside.. we are the future, we’re the pride. The transporter bridge is bollokcs.. nothing to do with the club. It’s a rusty old crane that was put there instead of us having a proper bridge. The steel industry is long gone.. ripped away from us, flattened under a thousand false promises. Transporter bridge is very much Parmo.. something very popular that is not actually that special. Christopher Dresser having his home in Middlesbrough is a pretty big deal.. he was Bauhaus before Bauhaus. We were the future.. Erimus indeed.. the birthplace of brutalist architecture. The inspiration for many poets and writers.. Ridley Scott, Blade Runner, Alien.. ICI and all the new materials.. the Cobalt Bomb of North Ormesby. We were the forefront of EVERYTHING A brave new world.. inspired by Billingham.. the new world.. discovered by Captain Cook. For me we should pay homage to our past.. our iconic groundbreaking world changing past. Never mind the Elgin marbles going back to Greece.. we want all of our stuff back from the science museum. 90% of it is ours anyway!!

Boro, Birthplace of Bauhaus, Brutalism, Brave New World, Blade Runner.. Brisbane. Blimey!

Bring Back the Badge!

I'm at work (tea break) so have not had time to read the whole thread hence I apologise in advance if these points have been made:

1. Demographics come into this as the people with an affinity for badge A or B are now very much in the minority given a lot of them are in the Holgate in the sky. However the 1986 badge will have most people at an age that have an affinity to it. It will therefore get the bigger share of the vote as badge's A & B mean nothing to them. As the current badge is very poor it stands to reason that the 1986 badge will be the most popular given the reasons stated.

2. Why not have a badge with "ERIMUS" on it? This would be option E but it is our town motto and adding the Transporter in the middle of the ships above a red lion would cover most things.

Mate. Take the tranny and Newport bridge away, what’s left? Embrace it and love it… it’s our heritage and identifies us!!!

Cheers for the input. Erimus is great. I’d put that under option D where it’s a new badge with combination of old ones, including the coat of arms.
