Unacceptible "Paedo" and offensive chants / behaviour at MFC / SAFC Game

It's got nothing to do with whataboutery. Boro fans were singing disgusting things in the same two hour period as Sunderland fans were.
That's literally whataboutery.
OP asks : let's tackle the chants from Sunderland fans.
Reaction: what about the chants from Boro fans? They were bad, too.

However, I'm with the OP in a reply to another poster. That's tackle both together. I want Boro fans to stop the homophobic chanting. Look at my profile and see where I live: it's one of the gayest places in the UK! My brother is gay and it bemused me that I hear London is a town full of rentboys and recall my Boro born brother. And I hate the bonfire chant. I heard it in the North Stand above me (I was in lower part). And the Savile and Adam Johnson chants? Those too. Weirdly enough, I saw Boro at West Ham when we were last in the Premier league and their fans chanted he was one of our own! So, yes. I want rid of those. I just think we should focus on what the OP suggested. Although it may not have been intended, further posts to the OP was redolent of whataboutery.

I'm reflecting opinions already raised on this board and asking for possible constructive suggestions about where and how “we” start to do something concrete about it once and for all.
For the majority of most posters, it is clearly a serious issue.
It's about what “we” can do and where we place the starting point.
So far, the issue has been highlighted to Rob FMTTM by at least two threads.
He has access to resources and knowledge about dealing correctly with the Club, and maybe able to offer advice.
That doesn't mean what “we” do about it, stops there.

Feck all then 😅

Yet still there are very simple ways in which we can tackle much more important issues that do not go anywhere!

I have no doubt that this will go all the way to the top and be treated with the level of importance that those who raised it wish.

In reality.. it’s just guff and a total waste of time. A non issue forced using totally redundant points of argument.

I can only ‘sigh’ in disappointment.

It's okay saying that we need to get our own house in order first but I'm genuinely wondering can a club report their own fans to the EFL and ask to be punished? How would that work?

If fans are meaning that individual fans should be reported to the police and banning them from the stadium then fair enough but I was more suggesting that we go to the EFL, so that Sunderland as a club will face disciplinary action. A hefty fine or reduction in their away allocation may just deter them in future.

Touched a nerve?

I'm going to give you one chance to retract your insinuation that I support any of the chanting you have have described. Do it now and do it with sincerity otherwise I'm taking you to the F***ing cleaners.
I wasn’t insinuating anything and I apologise if you thought that I was no offence meant

I’m saying unless we take action and hit nerves nothing will change. Surely we are all united in stamping out this vile filth

A positive from this thread, and others already posted, is it separates those who want to make a positive difference to the football environment we all enjoy, from those who don't. (y)
So let's not worry about them, and focus on where we start to affect positive change.

That today was enmasse and it was disgusting

You knew exactly where you were going with that and I could see it coming a mile off.

As someone highlighting that we need to get our own house in order too, I'm not going to pretend I have a magic answer here. I was thinking less about fines at an EFL level and more encouraging our club and others to deal with this stuff themselves.

For anyone to suggest doing nothing, describing any action as "….just guff and a total waste of time" demonstrates a complete lack of compassion for those effected by the chants and, implies contempt for anyone who has any interest in doing anything about the football environment.
If you are happy doing nothing.
That's ok (y)

Here we go.. I have a lack of compassion.

Wrong again. I’m just embarrassed by this faux outrage which will ultimately go nowhere and help no one.

Bringing up stadium disasters in an unrelated discussion shows a lack of compassion.
Comparing tasteless football chants to racism shows complete ignorance..
If you want to do something positive, something good.. then you need to educate yourselves before flying off the handles and pouring all your focus onto a short term over reaction.

I would be happier doing nothing.. than causing more damage, going like a bull in a china shop calling people silly names and bringing equally inflammatory subjects into the discussion and weaponising them.

That's fine.
Whatever you choose to do.
No problem (y)
